* MoodWhiplash: PlayedForLaughs (possibly) in Episode 31; the little kid with [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Ash Ketchum's]] [[Creator/VeronicaTaylor voice]] snuck into Serenity's hospital room and won't stop getting on her nerves:

* NotSoDifferent: Used by Noah against Seto. Very justifiably.

* TakeThat:
** Creator/FourKidsEntertainment is mercilessly mocked at every available opportunity; interestingly, the [=4Kids=] crew are apparently fond of the series and weren't responsible for its removal from Website/YouTube. {{Filler Villain}}s the Big Five are in the employ of [=4Kids=] as of Episode 37. [[spoiler: Melvin also works for 4Kids, according to episode 45.]]
** The series frequently makes fun of general internet fandom ("I'm going to go complain about it on my [=LiveJournal=] account!") and the various [=LittleKuriboh=] impostors who try to fool people into thinking a new episode is out.
** "We update almost as frequently as Webcomic/VGCats." Touché, LK.
** After trolls started flagging the episodes on [=YouTube=] (leading to their takedown), Kaiba informs Mokuba that he's "flagging videos on [=YouTube=] to compensate for the fact that I have an incredibly small penis."
** For probably the same reasons as above, the first time Mariks Evil Council of Doom gathers, they decide to spam Yugi's youtube account so that he will have no choice but to bow before their might. Marik compliments that it is very evil.
** Creator/LittleKuriboh also frequently takes aim at the other AbridgedSeries, especially ''WebVideo/NarutoTheAbridgedSeries'' (the creators of which actually appears once as guest stars [[SelfDeprecation to make fun of themselves]]). ** Episode 81 takes a jab at the casting of ''Film/GodsOfEgypt''.

** In the first episode, Kaiba calls Yugi and announces that he kidnapped his grandfather. Yugi's first question is to ask who he is.
** In episode 54, Yami points out that even if the Big Five won their duel and stole the heroes' bodies, they can't just walk in and take over [=KaibaCorp=] because nobody would take a bunch of teenagers claiming to be former executive seriously.
** Mokuba refuses to forgive Noah after his sudden HeelFaceTurn. While he's about to make a HeroicSacrifice to save them it's his fault they're all trapped in the virtual world and in danger of being killed in the first place.
** In Episode 71 Rafael forces Yugi to play the game properly instead of joking around and making references, and Yugi realizes he has no idea how to actually play the game.
** Eisode 83 has a few examples:
*** Due to being easily hacked and taken over by Dartz, investors are pulling out of [=KaibaCorp=] due to lack of faith in their security.
*** Kaiba is too busy to participate in the tournament, because he is the CEO of a company, and can't always go off gallivanting whenever he feels like it. Every other time, his company was either doing fine (Battle City), or his gallivanting was to save the company from malicious forces (Pegasus, the Big Five, Dartz). When the company is in danger from mundane market forces, participating in duels won't help, and his energies are best focused on running the tournament.
*** The computer in the [=KaibaDome=] is programmed with all of the experiences of the previous duelists. However, because it only uses ''one'' deck, the different strategies turn it into a melting pot of bad deck-building.

* ScrewDestiny: When Ishizu is shocked that Kaiba is about to win their duel despite her prediciting otherwise, he yells "F*** destiny! I am Seto Kaiba! I make my own fate!"

* WeaksauceWeakness: In his LetsPlay of ''Videogame/{{Slender}}'', Marik theorises that [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos the Slender Man]] has a weakness against bathrooms.

** Episode 45 leading into 46. It turns out Melvin is an agentof [=4Kids=] sent to destroy the show, and he does so when he beats Bakura in a duel. The show "ends" with a credits reel listing the cast... until the members of Team Four Star appear at the bottom, and the scene pans out to reveal Noah and the Big Five watching, and the subsequent conversation reveals Noah is the master of [=4Kids=] and TheManBehindTheMan to Melvin.

* IdiotBall: Depending on the scene, it can range from one character doing something stupid, like not noticing Bakura's turned into a bestial psychopath, to the entire cast accepting that Bakura's managed to recover from illness, win six duels in a tournament, and walk to the location of the finals in a single episode. Special mention goes to Tristan, whose IdiotBall is permanently lodged between his brain's frontal lobes.

** Scientology gets its blasting in Episode 38.
