* MissedMomentOfAwesome - In the Edolas arc, Gajeel, despite being a dragon slayer, didn't show up with Natsu and Wendy in Edolas for some reason. Must be because he is waiting to pull a BigDamnHeroes moment, right? Right, and he pulls a really big one, probably turning the tide of the whole Edolas saga... and all of it happens offscreen.
** Fortunately, the Anime pulled an AdaptationExpansion and included an entire sub-plot covering Gajeel's actions.

As the leader vanishes he declares that Wendy now has real friends and doesn't need illusory companions. It's a very emotional and tear-jerking chapter.]]

** The Fairy Tail anime also has voice cast that is all-around impressive, featuring many major players in the industry. Coupled with the lush OSTs you really have to suspect that whoever decides the anime budgeting is an audiophile.

* ViewerGenderConfusion - It's not 100% apparent whether Midnight is [[{{Bifauxnen}} a tomboyish woman]] or [[DudeLooksLikeALady a somewhat feminine man]]. The only time anyone referred to him/her with pronouns they used female ones ('her', 'daughter', etc.) but that's obviously not complete proof... and in fact, more recent chapters have switched to using male pronouns. This is a translation confusion. Midnight refers to himself using a pronoun only used by men and boys, and the times that the translator has used her and daughter were actually gender-neutral phrases like person and father and child.

**** But lots of writers change small facts like that, or just simply make mistakes. Maybe he intended on Ren and Eve being able to destroy a leg at the end of the arc as well, but decided halfway through it would be better if they were largely out of the action. Besides, in a later volume, Mirajane [[AllThereInTheManual explains in the volume's Q & A]] that Nirvana got tired of carrying around eight legs and simply dropped two. A bit of a WildcardExcuse, but still. He at least noticed.
