* LoveItOrHateIt: ''Derpulies'' initially had a heavily divisive reception. It mostly depends on whether or not you like the editing and the (lack of) Flux Buddies/Hat Films content. See BrokenBase for more details. It has since managed to be RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap in a sense.

* FreudWasRight: In Ugocraft Mod Spotlight what is the first thing Simon decides to make given [[PowerPerversionPotential the power to move groups of blocks around?]] That's right- giant, pink, spinning, thrusting, flying "winkies".

* MemeticBadass: Simon is ''always'' portrayed as the most {{Badass}} of the heroes, with Peculier often being ignored and Lewis made out as a LovableCoward. Especially in fan art, where Simon's dual wielding diamond weapons and slaughtering mobs while Lewis is in the background. Likely influenced by the camera set-up; Simon essentially has to play the stronger role, since for over a year, Lewis was the sole camera man who couldn't do many "action sequences" in the Israphel series and has to take a clean shot of Simon being a hero. But Lewis does tend to hide in the back when he sees monsters...

** Israphel and Strawfingers both get this for being a {{Badass}} KnightOfCerebus for their respective series (Shadow of Israphel and Feed the World /Sjin's Farm).

* CompleteMonster:
** Israphel started the show as something of a {{Troll}} and prankster, but as the series went along he became [[CerebusRetcon far darker and much less amusing]]. Before the show even started, he is revealed via flashback to have murdered [[spoiler:Peculier's]] mother, forcing his father to make a HeroicSacrifice to seal him away, then continued to stalk him and make his life a living hell, largely by murdering people he was getting to know and driving him paranoid. In the present, he orders [[spoiler:Jock_Fireblast]] to burn down [[spoiler: Mistral City and BBQ Bay]] (which works on the first count and narrowly fails on the second), [[spoiler:zombified Granny_Bacon and then tried blowing up the church in which her funeral was taking place]], and would happily turn on Minecraftia to [[spoiler:release the Sand God.]] It goes to show that in a series full of strange creatures and LaughablyEvil foes, Israphel has set the standard for sheer vileness.
** [[spoiler:Jock Fireblast]], one of Israphel's henchmen, is a nasty piece of work who burns down [[spoiler:Mistral City]], framing [[spoiler:Skylord_Lysander]] for this and nearly getting him killed as a result. He then tried to do the same (and was visibly viewed doing so) to [[spoiler:Barbecue Bay]], a settlement full of people that thought him their friend, if Simon and Lewis hadn't stopped him. Even then, he almost succeeded.

* ItGetsBetter: ''Trials of Derpulies'' is viewed as GrowingTheBeard around two-thirds in, which is why fans are encouraged to skip to around that point.

** Whereas most non-Hatters were satisfied with ''Trials of Derpulies'' at first, the show has become a point of argument among fans of each of the three teams. While Team Sjipos (Sjin, Lewis and Sips) are fairly represented and their fans are happy about this, fans of Hat Films and the Flux Buddies are... less than elated to say the least, to the point that [[http://i.imgur.com/JiF6Zxb.png rough graphs of the series show how disproportionate Team Sjipos is represented]], Smith and Ross have [[http://i.imgur.com/NQSYErt.png seemingly criticised the editing on Twitter]], Hatters are ditching the show en masse, and fans of the Flux Buddies appear to be unsure whether to keep watching or to leave. Team Sjipos' tendency to delve into heavy BlackComedy doesn't help some supposedly politically correct blogs either. It has managed to win over fans as it continued, however.
** The news that there will be a second series of ''Derpulies'' has split the base. While many people are pleased that Simon will supposedly be involved and believe that the editing may improve significantly, others feel the project should be left as it is and that new things should be attempted instead. The reaction to ''Trials of Skobbels'' has been considerably more positive, however, and the divide eased over quickly.

** The third ''Flux Buddies'' series, ''[[JustForPun Flux Baddies]]'', has quickly become one. Fans were initially excited to see from the perspectives of [[BigBad Lalnable Hector]] and [[CloningBlues Specimen 5]], and a number of plot reveals (such as [[spoiler: Lalnable originating from Yoglabs, officially connecting the two universes, and the new world being the abandoned ruins of every old Tekkit base]]) have shaken the canon up. However, Duncan and Kim essentially stop trying to maintain {{Kayfabe}} after a few videos, going on [[BreakingTheFourthWall tangents about real life]] and generally acting giggly and happy as they would in a regular ''Flux Buddies'' series. Many have expressed that it significantly drains the threat and mystery of the two characters built up over the years, but the divide comes from whether you find this amusing or an irritating move.

* MagnumOpus: Fans are split between either ''Shadow of Israphel'' or the ''Jaffa Factory'' series in Tekkit, but both are held up at different times as (an example of) the Yogscast's best work. Many of their subsequent shows have been compared to one of the two, perhaps unfairly.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: After complaints in ''Cornerstone'' that the election process took too long, Sjin eventually implemented a rota to speed things up and ensure that everyone would get a go. Other channels, such as Strippin and Hat Films, notably cut that bit out entirely and told viewers to watch Sjin's videos if they were interested.

** By far the biggest complaint about ''Derpulies'' was the inconsistent editing, which meant that Team Sjipos appeared much more than either Hat Films or Team Flux Buddies. ''Trials of Skobbels'' addressed this by having a considerably better division of screentime for all teams, which is one reason why it's considered a SurprisinglyImprovedSequel.

Added DiffLines:

** Most of the punishments that Skobbels hands out in his eponymous series are surprisingly dark and just as funny for it.
