* SpecialEffectsFailure: When Pa's [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe upper half]] keels over, you can see the rim of the hole in the floor where the rest of his body is.
** Given the nature of the movie, plus how incredibly fake his lower half looks, this was almost certainly intentional.

* WTHCastingAgency: The choices to portray musicians, for the purposes of comedy. Weirdly, all the choices somehow make ''sense'' when viewed through the twisted logic of the film.

* JerkassWoobie: Yeah, Dewey is a selfish asshole but considering of what happened to him...

** Jack White as a CrazyAwesome Elvis Presley yelling about karate.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The fact that this movie came out in an era bloated by Creator/SeltzerAndFriedberg's [[ShallowParody "Movie Movies"]] probably hurt it critically, but it was still only considered one of the better post-''[[Film/TheNakedGun Naked Gun]]'' spoof movies.

** Dewey's music causes a frenzy at the high school talent show, which looks very similar to the music video for "Marvin Gaye" by Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor.
** The film is particularly fond of parodying ''Film/WalkTheLine''. Creator/JoaquinPhoenix, the star of that movie, would play Creator/JohnCReilly's brother in ''Film/TheSistersBrothers'' 11 years later.
** When ''Film/BohemianRhapsody'' came out, nearly every other critic compared scenes from that movie to ''Walk Hard'', including the FramingDevice where Music/FreddieMercury reflects on his life before a concert. These critics said that they couldn't take the Music/{{Queen}} biopic seriously because many of the musical biopic clichés ''Walk Hard'' was mocking 11 years earlier were present in ''Bohemian Rhapsody''.

While the [[ExplosiveBreeder obscene number of children]] is played for absurdity, their actual bonding is played as genuinely sweet. Part of the montage is even scored to a lovely cover of [[Series/ThePartridgeFamily "Come On Get Happy."]]
