*** Est comes back to see Daru in a compromising pose with a drunk Athena. Instead of clearing the misunderstanding, Daru chastises Est for even entertaining the idea of them being in that kind of relationship and continues to antagonize him every time they meet without telling the truth to him or even making Athena aware that this misunderstanding happened.
*** Doubly so due to Daru and Athena's romance blossoming as the story progresses (turns out Est wasn't wrong after all).

when it happens, keeps Athena on the dark about that situation (so ''she'' can't go talk to him and clear the misunderstanding either) and doesn't try to clear it up until chapter 16 of the manga.
***Daru ''finally'' "apologizes" during chapter 16 of the manga. He essentially puts the blame on Est for running away and, when asked about why he couldn't have explained it when they met again, he just deflects. Have in mind during said encounter
Daru and Athena's romance blossoming as had thrown more fuel into the story progresses (turns out Est wasn't wrong after all).fire, reinforcing Est's belief that he was betrayed, while still keeping Athena on the dark about everything.
*** Daru outright states he doesn't regret what he's done because things happened to go well for everyone. The readers don't see it that way, rather seeing things going well ''despite'' his involvement.

Added DiffLines:

*{{Hypocrite}}: The main characters have all been labeled as such by the readers.
*UnintentionallySympathetic: Est is definitely this, though the narrative tries to paint him as the antagonist during the first half.
*UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The entire cast save Est falls into this:
**Athena banishes Est from the party because he is too weak to protect himself and gets injured during one of their expeditions. It turns out [[spoiler:she can't protect herself without Est's buffs and the items he provided during battles]].
***She banished Est because he is too weak to protect himself, but readers have pointed out it's the vanguard's job to keep the back line safe and properly crowd control the enemies, meaning him getting injured was '''her''' (and Daru's) fault instead.
***Her decision to banish him for his own safety backfired ''immediately'', as he tries to venture into the dungeon by himself to become strong enough to be accepted back and almost dies. If it wasn't for the second wind he gained seconds before being killed, Athena would have been responsible for driving her childhood friend into suicide.
**Daru agrees to banish Est for the same reason, but he continues to support and train Athena so she will become stronger, an offer he never made to the banished member.
***He also gives clearly different treatment to the girls compared to Est, becoming a mentor to the entire party but refusing to do so for the only other male member, making readers believe he is taking advantage of the situation.
***Est comes back to see Daru in a compromising pose with a drunk Athena. Instead of clearing the misunderstanding, Daru chastises Est for even entertaining the idea of them being in that kind of relationship and continues to antagonize him every time they meet without telling the truth to him or even making Athena aware that this misunderstanding happened.
***Doubly so due to Daru and Athena's romance blossoming as the story progresses (turns out Est wasn't wrong after all).
**Mirialia is in love with Athena, so she celebrates the banishing of Est.
***It gets worse when it's revealed both [[spoiler:Daru and Mirialia]] were hiding their true strength all along and could have protected Est from being injured in the first place. They just didn't care enough for their party member's safety, it would seem.
