** Speaking of the [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope slippery slope]], Roger's been sliding down it ever since he entered Area51. But [[spoiler: shooting 6 dead then quipping at 8 as she yells and breaks down]]... that's a whole new low.

** And yet again when chapter 26 shows in a flashback [[spoiler:that he knocked Phillis unconscious and then raped her.]]

* CriticalResearchFailure: Possibly, if Doctor Glasner's name is really Vernon -- he's presented as a German, and Vernon is most definitely not a German name. Similar terms for his LostLenore, Abigail, whose name has barely been in use in the German language in modern times.

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* StrangledByTheRedString: Rose seems genuinely disturbed and haunted by Hue's harassment, so she ... asks him to accompany her for a walk on the beach? This might actually be justified; [[spoiler: apparently Rose and Hue have known each other for a real long time, even if they don't remember.]]
* UncannyValley: Besides the fact that they are kidnapping people for experiments, this is why Rose is afraid of Shade and Tone. Hue is much less uncanny to her, because he shows emotions and has a wider range of facial expressions.

* ReasonYouSuckSpeech: Shade, living up to her name, throw a measured but ''brutal'' one at [[spoiler: Fatima, Rose's Mother]], over the clear and present fact, that while everyone around her suffered, she has remained safe and happy, and that most of [[spoiler: Rose's issues don't stem from Rose's HalfHumanHybrid status, but by Fatima abandoning Rose]], As well as the fact that Shade wants to help [[spoiler: Rose]] but doesn't not have the emotional range to help.

* CatharsisFactor: [[spoiler: After seeing Fatima behave very callously towards Rose and her late lover Jacob and outright describe Rose as 'damaged' due to being half human, however InnocentlyInsensitive she might be, it's highly satisfying to watch ''Shade'' [[https://www.tryinghuman.com/comic/chapter-22-928 flatly tell her that Rose's issues come from Fatima abandoning her, and that everyone around Fatima has suffered so that she can be happy.]] ]]

* HateSink: Fatima quickly became this to the fandom due to her complete lack of any kind of empathy or regret towards leaving[[spoiler: Rose, her own daughter, and the fact that after she left, Rose's father drank himself to death and Fatmina showed no care that he was dead and it was partially her fault, as Rose put it, and is shown, Fatima left without any hesitation to go back into space, even then she hugged her partner crying about how she thought he was dead, rather than comforting her obviously distressed daughter.]] While Roger and Glashner are both assholes, at the very least they show strong emotions and a few PetTheDog moments, with Rogers stresses and SanitySlippage being due to Hue not leaving Rose alone, Fatima while not being evil is shown very quickly to be pretty heartless.

** Except there is [[http://www.tryinghuman.com/comic/chapter-17--619 this talk]] between Hue and Shade where Shade says that it's Hue who's trying to take Rose away from ''her''. That can be interpreted as jealousy of a sort.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Don and Longus near the end of chapter 17. Longus has told Don all there is to know about him, and Don just accepts it all basically like: "So, you're an alien? But you're still gay, right? 'kay, let's cuddle!"

* TearJerker: Several.
** Hue's [[ADogNamedDog dog]], one of the few beings who kept him company after he talked Shade into letting him keep him. Dog naturally grew old and died sometime, and to have someone to talk to, Hue kept his body in stasis.
** Young Longus finding out that his first love Brevis has died in war. He wants to say his farewell and ends up [[CradleOfLoneliness curled up]] and crying on Brevis' corpse -- which is when Brevis' brother Magnus comes in, completely losing it and starting to shout homophobic slurs at Longus for "bringing shame" on the memory of Brevis.
*** Arguably also the fact that Brevis didn't even fall in battle. He was sent to hunt down a Nordic woman, Fatima, but when he'd found her, [[MercifulMinion he advised her to run away and hide]]... only for Jacob, a human, to shoot him because [[HelpMistakenForAttack he thought Brevis was attacking Fatima]].
