** Many of Julia’s accomplishments in Season 2 of ''Island 2023'' come across as this. From her inexplicably being able to forge a convincing film contract to trick Nichelle into quitting, to convincing the others that it was Bowie’s idea to have MK cheat for their team (despite everyone knowing Julia’s untrustworthy, as well as her rivalry with Bowie), to finding the immunity idol without any explanation as to when or how she found it.

** Stephanie & Ryan's relationship in ''Ridonculous Race'' was universally despised for having the two get back together despite being clearly toxic. Chase and Emma take a different approach in the 2023 reboot, with Chase being so obviously toxic and Emma clinging onto the hope he can change, despite everyone telling her he's a lost cause. When she does get back together with him, it's portrayed as a horrible decision that will end badly. With everyone coming back for another season, it leaves the door open for her to regret her bad decision. And the second season revealed that Emma did regret her decision and broke up with Chase permanently.
** Part of the criticism of DJ's plot in ''World Tour'' is the PlotHole in regards to why he didn't just quit, as he should've been aware of such option, given that he had quit in ''Action'' and witnessed both Duncan and Harold quit earlier in the third season. It could've easily been avoided by Chris stating a contestant is only allowed to quit once throughout the series or that no more than 2 contestants can quit per season, but he never states such a thing. In ''Island (2023)'', this issue is avoided, as Chris tells Damien that the new contracts have a rule where if a contestant were to quit, they'd owe the show one million dollars instead, making it completely understandable why Damien's only option to leave is to get voted out through a regular voting process.

** Mal, [[JekyllAndHyde Mike's evil personality]], is treated as more threatening than other Total Drama villains, beating up characters and even intimidating other villains. However, the limitations of the show's otherwise silly tone and young target demographic make Mal come across as more of a ridiculous {{Badbutt}} (not helped by his design just being Mike with dark eyebags and bangs). The biggest examples are early in the season, when he breaks into Sam and Sierra's beds, lurking ominously in the shadows... and breaks their video game and cell phone respectively. The EvilGloating in his confessional after these actions feels more like a PokeThePoodle joke. Comparisons are often made between Mal and Max from the following season, the latter of whom was ''intended'' to be over-the-top evil for comedy.

** Wayne is often shipped with either Raj ([[AbandonShipping or at least he was before]] [[OneTruePairing Raj and Bowie became a couple]], but there are people who [[OneTrueThreesome have a taken a liking to the idea of Bowie and Raj letting Wayne into their relationship]]), Emma, Damien, Nichelle, the purple haired intern, or Julia, though [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight Julia]] is probably the most notable example out of the seven.

** Some people headcanon Ezekiel as autistic due to his lack of social skiils.

However, [=MacArthur=]'s cameo was better received, as even with her looking still the same, it was the one time we could see how a returning character's life has changed, with her getting a RankUp from a police cadet to master sergeant of a K-9 unit.

** Caleb and Priya's relationship ends with Priya assuring she loves Caleb even if they lost. It's supposed to be a HappilyEverAfter ending, except the final few episodes had Priya hounding Caleb for minor slights like [[EntitledBastard not letting her win the Final 4 challenge]] despite the fact he spent most of it not knowing what was going on or not keeping up with Julia in the chariot racing despite the fact he was carrying five times the weight she was carrying. Priya has basically started acting like not just her parents, but Calebs parents and unlike Priya, he resents how his parents treated them and it calls into question how long or happy their relationship would be.

* EsotericHappyEnding: Mike and Zoey's first kiss at the conclusion of ''All-Stars'', as well as Mike regaining control of his body from Mal was clearly meant to be heartwarming, as was their reunion with Cameron and Gwen. However, the destruction of Wawanakwa, the debate around the infamous reset button and the unexplained fates of the eight contestants who were sent floating away (as well as most of the season's plotlines ultimately going unresolved) did little to win over most fans.

** While it's understood that Millie deceiving Priya and the other contestants while secretly using them as psychological subjects was wrong, some of Millie's actual ''positions'' make total sense in the context of the show. Specifically, Priya calls her out on criticizing how Priya's parents raised her to compete on ''Total Drama'', and Millie apologizes for butting into Priya's family life. However, Millie ''is'' right to be concerned about Priya's family life, given their alleged actions include pressuring their child to fit their mold of the perfect contestant since birth, leaving her alone in the woods and, in the second season, [[spoiler:taking the million dollars ''she'' won for a savings account, preventing her from pursuing her real dreams]]. Some of this is revealed ''after'' Priya convinces Millie not to say bad things about her parents, and Millie is shown to still be genuinely concerned for Priya's family situation. In a less comical setting, it would make sense for Millie to report on this sort of child abuse.

** During the second season of the reboot, many fans admitted to wanting to see Julia and/or MK come out on top, in spite of them being the main villains who cheated and manipulated their way through the game, simply because they were so charismatic and their VillainousFriendship plot being widely considered to be the highlight of the season.

** Priya/Damien is shown to be a very popular ship, even after Priya/Caleb becomes canon. This is probably because Priya and Damien had moments of ShipTease in Part 1, with fans enjoying their MasculineGirlFeminineBoy dynamic with the two always being genuinely friendly and supportive with one another, with Priya's relationship with Damien being the only one not to have any issues. It doesn't help that Priya’s romance with Caleb [[RomanticPlotTumor takes over the back half of Part 2]].

** Priya/Damien is shown to be a very popular ship, even after Priya/Caleb becomes canon. This is probably because Priya and Damien had moments of ShipTease in Part 1, with fans enjoying their MasculineGirlFeminineBoy dynamic with the two always being genuinely friendly and supportive with one another, with Priya's relationship with Damien being the only one not to have any issues. It doesn't help that Priya’s romance with Caleb in the show becomes [[RomanticPlotTumor problematic and takes over the back half of Part 2]].
*** Alternatively, Damien gets shipped with Nichelle quite a bit due to them having a lot of interactions and are usually being seen together throughout Part 2 before Nichelle quits the show. Many fans are hoping for a chance for Damien and Nichelle to interact more in future seasons so that they can become a couple.

** Several people who shipped Wayne and Julia moved to shipping Julia with MK due to their LesYay filled alliance in the second season of the reboot.
