Added DiffLines:

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is Laure a transgender boy, genderqueer, a cisgender tomboy, and/or maybe also a lesbian? According to Creator/CelineSciamma, this was deliberately left ambiguous, so that a wide range of people could watch the movie and think "That was my childhood."
%%* EsotericHappyEnding
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The movie became unexpectedly successful in UsefulNotes/SouthKorea during its local 2020 theatrical release.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: The dance scene and ensuing bonding between Laure (as Mickaël) and Lisa.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Laure winning a fight against a boy who was bullying her sister.
* Narm: When Laure pushes a boy off a boat and into some water, the kid lets out a clear Wilhelm Scream. Quite possibly the single most misplaced usage of the stock sound effect ever.
* SpiritualSuccessor: Tomboy is sometimes considered as a Spear Counterpart to Film/MaVieEnRose, even though it doesn't clearly address if Laure's UsefulNotes/transgender, unlike the latter.
* TransAudienceInterpretation: Many viewers perceive Laura as either nonbinary or a trans boy. Creator Creator/CelineSciamma deliberately left the matter open so that multiple interpretations could be made, and Laure also can be taken as a budding butch lesbian or straight tomboy too.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: For the most part Laure looks like a little boy (the actress hadn't yet grown breasts), but her naked scene in the bath reveals her sex. Creator/CelineSciamma actually expected French audiences to be fooled initially, but a) the trailer gave it away by showing the bath scene and b) there are French people who know what "tomboy" means. This was deliberate though, since Sciamma wanted Laure's gender identity to be ambiguous, so she could be taken as a budding butch lesbian, trans man or just a tomboy. The fact that Laure presenting herself as a boy is the main plot likely just reinforces this confusion too, whatever one takes it to represent.
