Sara Gilbert talked about being over-committed to multiple TV projects and barely having time for her family. Gilbert said her goal was to spend more time with her family. On the April 9, 2019, episode, Gilbert announced her departure from the show leaving at the conclusion of its ninth season; she cited acting opportunities, her desire to produce other projects and spending time with her family as the reason for her departure.
