The obvious thing to do here would be to consult a cinematographer, and/or shoot test footage on both formats to see what would work better for the film. Instead, he bought (not hired, ''bought'') a film camera and an HD video camera, and shot the whole film with both cameras. Apparently, this decision alone ate up nearly half the budget for the film.
