* FandomEnragingMisconception: Don't you ''ever'' mispronounce the show's name as "The Powderpuff Girls" in the presence of the fans. It doubles as an in-universe example, as the Narrator nearly calls them this in "Major Competition", prompting the girls to give him a DeathGlare.

Added more to Girl Show Ghetto.

* GirlShowGhetto: A lot of men mention that as boys they were embarrassed to be seen watching a "girl's show" like ''The Powerpuff Girls'', and treated it as a GuiltyPleasure. This is despite the fact that the show wasn't female-aimed at all; it was an unisex cartoon that had the same aesthetic as other Cartoon Network shows at the time, which wasn't really favoring a specific gender to say the least.

to:

* GirlShowGhetto: A The show's titular characters are very young girls that act are rather stereotypically "girly" in many different ways, from acting, to their wardrobe, etc., all while being the main heroes who fight crime. Because of this, a lot of men mention that as boys they were embarrassed to be seen watching a "girl's show" like ''The Powerpuff Girls'', and treated it as a GuiltyPleasure. This is despite the fact that the show wasn't female-aimed at all; it was an unisex cartoon that had the same aesthetic as other Cartoon Network shows at the time, which wasn't really favoring a specific gender to say the least.[[note]]The show was originally pitched as an over-the-top parody of the MagicalGirl genre, after all.[[/note]] This has faded a lot over the years though, especially going into ''TheNewTwenties'', with works having very "girly" ActionGirl heroines having become a lot more commonplace, and kids who saw the show in their youth have grown up and appreciate how ahead of its time it was for not having other characters mock the heroes for being girls.

** Ace's introductory episode, where he takes advantage of Buttercup's crush on him in order to lure the other Powerpuff Girls into a trap, tends to be brought up for how skeevy it makes him appear, since even though he didn't make any overt reciprocations of her feelings and he just wanted the girls out of the way, he - a teenager - still acted flirtatious towards a younger girl and strung her along.

* {{Narm}}: In "Cover Up", the scene where Buttercup gets beat up by a monster not much bigger than her loses all its suspense when Buttercup gives a LittleNo. It's just the ''way'' she says it that makes it so narmful. And the fact that without context, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything the whole thing just looks like a rape scene]] just adds to its narmy factor.

** Mojo Jojo's ThereCanOnlyBeOne speech in "Los Dos Mojos" is completely diluted by the fact that he's still naked aside from wearing his cap. As said by Mojo himself earlier, he's wet, naked, and Bubbles is still wearing his clothes.

** During "HIM Diddle Riddle," the girls are tasked with taking down a giant monster without using their powers. Buttercup runs off and comes back in a helicopter with a gatling gun. Where did that come from, how did she get it, and how does she know how to pilot it?

** [=McCracken=]'s college assignment that spawned the series, Whoopass Stew (the title alone should make it clear which demographic he wasn't shooting for), went as follows. Girls beat the crap out of the Ganggreen Gang. Amoeba Boys rob a bang. Girls try to stop them but get stuck in their bodies. Girls prevail by flying to the sun, which kills the Amoeba Boys in seconds. Yeah. Not exactly tote bag-friendly icons, huh?

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForLittleGirls: The series was not originally intended for little girls. Craig [=McCracken=] created it as a parody of the MagicalGirl genre, as he was getting sick of Anime/SailorMoon [[AdoredByTheNetwork playing on Cartoon Network every day]]. As a TakeThat, he set the girls' ages very low, had them do very inelegant things, and made the villains cheesier than Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinners. The intended audience for it was the same as Dexter's Laboratory — animation fans in their teens, 20s, and 30s — [[AnimationAgeGhetto but it had to be child-appropriate]] (This was in the days before Adult Swim). A show like this naturally attracted little girls anyway.
