** Link's "I'm so hungry, I could eat an Octorok," line is even more hilarious in light of the fact that in TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild, Link can cook the body parts of dead Octoroks to use in elixirs. However, attempting to cook only Octorok parts together to make a whole Octorok will get you Dubious Food.

* HamAndCheese: Mark Berry's gloriously hammy performances of King Harkinian and Ganon definitely made the mediocre cutscenes easier to sit through.

* SoBadItsHorrible: On the other hand, one can indeed make the case that the games are as terrible as some might claim - for example, the WebVideo/GameGrumps playthroughs of the sidescrolling games are video-documented examples of two fairly competent retro gamers being driven absolutely crazy by inexcusable flaws such as HitboxDissonance, level designs that are often difficult to tell which areas are solid ground and which aren't, unfair enemy spawns... The list goes on. They have a proper controller for Link: The Faces of Evil and they still consider the game to be near-unplayable.

* UnfortunateImplications: An unintentional example. Militron calls one of his victims a "Worthless Koridian." Due to how compressed the audio is though, it instead sounds like he's saying "Korean." YoutubePoops lampshade it a lot.

* CriticalBacklash: Some of the people who have actually played the games contend that that they aren't as bad as they're made out to be. They say that the poorly-animated cut scenes distract from the OK gameplay, and that they're actually some of the better titles for the CD-i. That may count as being DamnedByFaintPraise, however.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The gameplay, meanwhile, was handled a fair bit more competently, but not so much as to make the games must-play titles nowadays. What's more, accurate CD-i emulation is notoriously difficult, and CD-i consoles & physical copies of the games themselves can go for up to a few hundred bucks on auction sites, meaning even Zelda fans who would otherwise be willing to give the CD-i games a chance consider them more trouble than they're worth to actually track down and play. Despite Website/HardcoreGaming101's spirited defense of the games, the sad reality is that few people want to spend $300+ to play something that's only "not as bad as everyone keeps saying".\\\

* DeaderThanDisco: Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon -- plus Zelda II's reputation as the OddballInTheSeries -- basically killed any chance of there being any further side-scrolling Legend of Zelda games.
** Oddly enough, when these games were first released, they actually had a fair amount of praise from reviewers and the few who actually played them on release. Good luck finding anyone who considers them anything above SoBadItsGood today.
** It also killed (for a while), any attempt to outsource any of Nintendo's core franchises to Western studios after this fiasco.

** Also, you better have a proper gaming-oriented controller with the console itself, because as the Game Grumps will attest (their playthrough of Wand of Gamelon makes the game's various gameplay flaws in the sidescrolling games rather apparent), the regular "remote" controller for the CD-i makes Link: The Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon (at least) damn near unplayable. Which says more about the system it was released on than the game itself, but still, you're not going to have a good time with the CD-i games without a more traditional controller.

* MisBlamed: A lot of people don't realize that many of the game's flaws came from the fact that it had NoBudget, RushedDevelopment, and was on a system with severe technical limitations (it only had two buttons, for starters, thus explaining why the buttons for talking and using the sword were the same.)
