** Another event that shows just how far gone Blossom is is when she [[spoiler:kidnaps Apple Seed, her honorary cousin, and tortures her both physically and mentally. She convinces Apple Seed that she is at fault for Blossom's killing spree, having convinced her to turn herself in at the end of Broken Blossom, and inflicts a knife wound on her that renders her unable to have foals, essentially wiping out the Ponyville branch of the Apple family line.]]

I reread the relevant chapter, and the key thing isn\'t any less stupid - when you have a patient who\'s expected to be in a restraining bolt for the rest of her life, for her own and others\' safety, it only makes sense to keep the key to it far away from her at all times.

* IdiotPlot: ''The Word is Fear'', specifically: [[spoiler: Blossom's escape from custody relies on rather glaring holes in her security. In addition, it relies on the Princesses never making the choice to have her horn removed, which made sense ''at first'', when she was still reasonably lucid, (plus, it was her greatest fear because of what happened to her mother) - but after Blossom has proven herself a potential danger to herself and others, not so much.]]
