** The Tok'ra are portrayed as using coercion get people to agree to being hosts, and generally acting almost as snide and arrogant as any typical Goa'uld.
** The Tau'ri, while depicted more fairly than the Tok'ra, are still painted as mildly prejudiced against the Jaffa, and somewhat hypocritical in their treatment of prisoners.

* WhatAnIdiot: Nekht, the entire plot of the fic is the direct result of his stupidity. [[spoiler: In particular, his poorly thought out "plan" to deliver Zuko and Toph to the Tok'ra and secure Asyunti as a source of potential hosts, results in the deaths of several people, including himself, puts Zuko in mortal danger thanks to well meaning, but ignorant caretakers not understanding his need for sunlight until it is nearly to late, and allows a fragment of the yukiosu to sneak to Earth and wreak havoc and the SGC.]]
** To a lesser degree, the SGC's repeated refusals of Toph's requests to let her and Zuko "see sunlight". While they can be forgiven for not guessing that Zuko needs to be under Sun to biosynthesize naquadah, it doesn't seem to occur to any of them that Toph, who ''comes from Zuko's world'', might know what is wrong with him and how to fix it. Daniel even notes that "Toph seems to think it's really important", but they still don't budge.
*** This last bit's lessened a bit more by the fact there's a [[PoorCommunicationKills language gap]], meaning they're working on about one word out of ten being understood clearly. The SGC (being concerned about foreign diseases and the NID [[PlayingWithSyringes grabbing Zuko and Toph]]) thought the kids just wanted to be outside, not that Zuko literally needed to be exposed to the sun. They still beat themselves up over the communication error later, though.

** What happened to Sanura's clan: they started to fall sick and attack everyone still healthy, and when Sanura and her lover tried to appeal to their gods, they discovered the gods ''were'' responsible for the plague... ''because they wanted to make a movie''.
** When Toph realizes earth-healing would probably let her bend ''bone'', she immediately decides to forget she ''ever'' thought about it.
** The Avatar Spirit [[GrandTheftMe hijacking Aang's body]] without any warning.
*** It's implied the Spirit was ''afraid'' of what was beyond the Stargate because it used to be an Ancient lab rat, who fled with its friends to a safe world. Then it discovered the Stargate was reactivated, and ''two of his current host's friends taken by whoever was responsible''.
** Zuko getting sicker and sicker the more longer he's deprived of sunlight. Even worse, his current caretakers are worsening the issue by refusing to let him go outside because they fear he could get abducted or catch some local illness. Grade-A AdultFear, here.

* {{Tearjerker}}: Toph confesses to Zuko that she killed people. She never wanted to, but earthbending is flinging big chunks of rock at the adversary so even if you're careful ''something'' is going to be broken. She's a twelve-years-old girl and she killed people, and she didn't even know she did until Jet get mortally hurt and she realized she had busted people ''just like that''.
** Sanura's DarkAndTroubledPast. Her family, her love and her village have been wiped only because a couple of Goaul'd wanted to ''make a movie''. No wonder she decided to kill them.
** When he learns Toph and Zuko's disappearance, Aang gets '''serious'''. It's easy to forget, but the kid is a FishOutOfTemporalWater who desperately clings to his friends. And now two of those friends have been kidnapped and he doesn't know how to reach and save them.
*** [[spoiler: The Avatar Spirit's reaction to this is also heartwrenching, because it means that the Stargate is reactivated, and it thinks it knows who had Toph and Zuko; it's implied the Avatar Spirit is the result of PlayingWithSyringes by the Ancients, and it fled with its friends to a safe world. Only now, it's not safe anymore.]]
** SG-1 does not take well the revelation that their new guests are [[ChildSoldier child soldiers]]. Especially [[OutlivingOnesOffspring Jack]].
** Zuko grows sicker and sicker from using his firebending while being away from the Sun. [[spoiler: He finally collapses after protecting an infirmary full of Marines from the yukioso, and the soldiers are horrified and ashamed to see a ''teenage boy'' in a coma because ''they'' weren't able to protect themselves. However, Toph's reaction is the real clincher, because she can feel her friend ''dying'' and no one ''listens'' to her explaining how to help him.]]

* BaseBreaker: Reader opinions are mixed on [[OriginalCharacter Djehuty and his people]]. Some find the idea of a good System Lord who cares about his Jaffa refreshing, while others dislike him for essentially being the Tok'ra, but better. Not helped by the necessity to rewrite a large part of the Goa'uld race's backstory in order accomodate him, and the fact that several heroic factions are portrayed as [[RonTheDeathEater worse than they actually are]] in order to give him and his Jaffa the moral high ground.
