Never mind; according to some sources they were indeed inspired by Ripping Yarns. Restored, but tweaked since the influence clearly faded somewhat.

* SpiritualSuccessor: Played with. The early "Four" installments were particularly inspired by ''Series/RippingYarns'', a British anthology comedy series where each episode is a different story lampooning tropes typically found in Victorian / Edwardian era adventure stories featuring (mostly) the same cast. However, the series gradually moved away from doing straight parodies, though movie homages tended to pop up from time to time.

Eh, not really; Ripping Yarns is entirely a parody of old Victorian / Edwardian adventure stories, whereas The Comic Strip Presents... is a lot more varied. Maybe the "Five" ones at least, but in general aside from "they're both funny anthologies", there's not really any meaningful similarities between the two.
