Added DiffLines:

* BrokenAesop: The parables towards racism in "True Colors" fall flat when one remembers that the problems in the episode (and the series as a whole) were caused by people of the koopa race, which is portrayed as AlwaysChaoticEvil. Not to mention the different-colored mushroom people revert to their original colors at the end anyway, making them all one "race" again.

This seems very shoehorned.

* ValuesResonance: The episode "Oh Brother" opens with Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad having been stuck in the latter's house for two weeks due to Kooky's rain machine. The Mario Bros, having grown sick of each other's presences, spend all their time arguing amongst themselves. With the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic and its associated lockdowns, many people in the 2020s have found their struggles to be much more relatable.

Found out Hip was Stuart Stone

* {{Moe}}: Hip and Hop, the cartoon equivalents to Lemmy and Iggy, are arguably even more adorable than they are in the games. Not only are they WellDoneSonGuy BashBrothers who are completely inseparable, but both are voiced by a young Creator/TaraStrong, and the glasses meant to make Iggy look psychotic make Hop look adorable.

* SophomoreSlump: Of the three ''Super Mario'' cartoons, this is the one that seems to get recognized the least. Sure, it has its moments that are somewhat well-known, but the first cartoon has the edge of being [[FirstInstallmentWins the first iteration]], and ''Super Mario World'' has the FountainOfMemes going for it. On the other hand...
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: ...It was [[TruerToTheText more faithful]] to the game than ''SMBSS'' was to the first two ''Mario'' games and it was a bit less formulaic.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Not only is this show based on the best selling game of 1990, but the Music/MilliVanilli episode and the episode featuring the late Barbara Bush and UsefulNotes/GeorgeHWBush (although not referred to by name) couldn't take place in any other year.

** Rather than taking the (in hindsight, logical) route of having professional actors dub over them, Rob and Fab of Music/MilliVanilli voice themselves in their spotlight episode. The result is every bit as magnificently awful as you'd expect:

** Also the episode with Dadzilla, who is introduced as a robot being used as a movie filmed in Hollywood. Eight years later, the first American ''Film/{{Godzilla|1998}}'' movie was made.
*** Also in the Dadzilla episode, Big Mouth and Kootie Pie theorize that they are not really Bowser's children. Over twenty years later, WordOfGod revealed that the original seven Koopalings are no longer considered to be Bowser's children, and that Bowser Jr. was his only child.
