** People either hate Rossiu for his behavior post-TimeSkip, or forgive him and see it as an integral part of his character arc.

Misuse for arguing against themselves.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Not that the minor characters from Team Gurren ''were'' Scrappies, see, it's just that no one really cared about them. But then episode 24 hits, where [[spoiler: all of them go out in one heck of a blaze of glory]]. ManlyTears were shed. ** Simon himself counts to some fans. He started out as essentially a whiny [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Shinji]] [[{{Expy}} clone]] who was indirectly responsible for [[spoiler: Kamina's death]] (despite showing more tact than his brother and openly said to be the reason of their success). However, after some well-played CharacterDevelopment and an epic HesBack scene, he proved himself as a courageous and likable character. And then he gets ''really'' awesome after the timeskip... ** Rossiu gets rescued after [[spoiler:his attempted suicide.]] When Simon forgives him even after [[spoiler:Rossiu sentenced him to death,]] the audience does too. [[TakeThatScrappy The massive punch to the face didn't hurt either.]] * TheScrappy: Rossiu. He wasn't ''that'' bad before the TimeSkip, but [[spoiler:sentencing Simon to be executed because he needed a scapegoat]] has earned him quite a lot of hate from the fanbase. ** [[spoiler:The Anti-Spiral]] gets this treatment, considering that his philosophy is [[BlueAndOrangeMorality bonkers]] compared to [[WellIntentionedExtremist Lordgenome]] and [[NobleDemon Viral]]. The fact that he [[spoiler:tentacle-raped Nia and later [[NoOntologicalInertia caused her death]]]] doesn't do him any favors.

The Scrappy misuse.
** Although many view Rossiu as TheScrappy, he has a sizable contingent of fangirls that still love him.

** The series as a whole milks "WidgetSeries" for all its worth, drops it into an alchemy machine, and rolls out some fresh-baked SoCoolItsAwesome.

* FountainOfMemes: Kamina. '''WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK HE IS?!''' ** If you don't think Kamina is a FountainOfMemes, just believe in the me that believes the memes.

* GeniusBonus: The Four Generals' names are based on the names of the four bases in DNA. Thymilph: thymine; Adiane: adenine; Guame: guanine; Cytomander: cytosine. Especially good when you remember that A and T are complementary base pairs. ** So... [[YaoiGuys what does that mean for Guame and Cytomander, then...?]] [[spoiler:SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan much?]] ** Which is fitting, considering they were created by [[EmperorScientist Lord]]''[[MeaningfulName Genome.]]'' ** Maybe not so much a Genius Bonus as a Literary Scholar Bonus, but the other parts of their names count too. In a lot of older poetic works, and presumably also in Western esoteric traditions, the spirits corresponding to the four classical alchemical elements are gnomes (Earth), sylphs (Air), undines (Water) and salamanders (Fire). Guame = guanine + gnome, Thymilph = thymine + sylph, Adiane = adenine + undine, Cytomander = cytosine + salamander. (Air and Fire have clearly been swapped here, though.) * HarsherInHindsight: Many of the off-hand comments to the effect that [[spoiler:Kamina is gonna get himself killed]] in the early episodes. Viral's [[spoiler:warning "your bravado will get you killed"]] and Kamina's own [[spoiler:"I'd be dead if it wasn't for your level head"]] to Simon in episode three come across as {{Foreshadowing}} once you get to episode eight.

*** HilariousInHindsight: Volfogg is played by the same voice actor as Kamina. Volfogg essentially does that in ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' [[spoiler:in the final episode.]]. So Kamina's a hypocrite? * HilariousInHindsight: Kamina City actually [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamina does exist]]! Also, as the page neatly tells us, Kamina means "rascal" in the Hindi-Urdu language. ** The Hindi-Urdu word is pronounced as "Kuh-MEE-nah", which is noticeably different from how Kamina's name is pronounced in Japanese. * HoYay: Real men [[FreudWasRight fire each other up, unite, and make comments about each other's drills.]]. -->'''Kamina: ''' ''(To Viral)'' You best remember this, fuzzball! * EsotericHappyEnding: Yes, the universe was saved and the [[spoiler: Anti-Spiral]] didn't kill off humanity, but [[spoiler: many of the crew dies (including Kittan, right after he confesses his love for Yoko), Nia dies just after she and Simon have their first kiss and Simon himself becomes a [[WalkingTheEarth hobo]] of sorts, which comes off as a rather insulting fate for someone who saved the entire man race from extinction. Not to mention, the Spiral Nemesis, the thing the Anti-Spiral were trying to stop from happening is still a potential risk that has a very real chance of transpiring and destroying everything]]. For such an idealistic series, the ending can be especially jarring.

* DuelingWorks: Oddly, with ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5'' - Gainax got a strongly worded letter from Toei when a manga was posted with one scene depicting Yoko shooting WeaselMascot Coco. Apparently, magical girls were a threat to the high-octane action this anime became.
