* DudeNotFunny: The film had a slow opening weekend in America because people of all political stripes assumed they were the target of the lampoon. And they were right. Right-wingers object to being portrayed as dicks, and walked out in the beginning. Left-wingers object to being portrayed as pussies, and walked out in the middle. Even some apolitical critics thought the film's philosophy was too nihilistic to be meaningful or enjoyable.
** Ironically, it takes a middle approach: To summarize it, "Pussies don't like dicks, because dicks fuck pussies, but dicks also fuck assholes (general threats to people), but pussies sometimes need to stop them, and pussies sometimes can become assholes."
** Even back when the movie came out, everyone should have known that Matt and Trey are the few comedians who have no list of AcceptableTargets and really do make fun of ''everyone'', so if you're easily offended, you had no business watching the movie in the first place.

* HilariousInHindsight: The song "End of an Act" eviscerates BenAffleck and praises CubaGoodingJr based on their work in MichaelBay's ''PearlHarbor''. The film was made in 2004, when Affleck was in the middle of his career slump and Gooding still living off the high of his ''JerryMaguire'' Oscar win. Now, Affleck has made a significant comeback with his directorial works ''GoneBabyGone'' & ''TheTown'' (the latter of which also recieed praise for his performance) while Cuba is doing straight to DVD schlock after appearing in disasters like ''{{Norbit}}'' and ''DaddyDayCamp''.

** There's even word that ''Kim Jong Ill himself'' saw this film and was tickled by it, saying something along the lines of "This is a very funny movie."
