** As a kick to the groin, the current state of this port is LostForever- when Namco pulled the plug on their server, every single copy of the game became a virtual paperweight instantly. That's it, no final version that makes the game playable offline, no compensation of any kind, just something along the lines of "thanks for the cash, and goodbye!" and then poof, everything's lost forever. Those who have forked out money for those items and have yet to complete the game? Yeah, we feel your pain.

* TearJerker - This is a Tales games. Expect it. This one's particularly nasty because it slams one in your face within the first 5-10 minutes of the game.

* BrokenBase: ''The English [=iOS=] port.'' It [[http://kotaku.com/theyve-turned-a-classic-jrpg-into-an-always-online-fr-1510608500 has an always-online requirement]] and an in-game purchase system. On top of that, the opening song is cut, and all the skits are missing as well. On top of that, [[PortingDisaster the controls are also overly sensitive, especially on an iPad.]] Reportedly, playing on an iPhone is more tolerable. This may be the price to pay for it being [[AllegedlyFreeGame free.]]
** AllegedlyFreeGame is definitely right: the difficulty is locked in at somewhere between Hard & [[HarderThanHard Mania]], leveling up takes ''far'' more experience points than it did in the previous versions, enemy encounter rates are lowered (which makes it harder to grind), and there are also reports that save points outside the world map are disabled. If you want to stand even a prayer of a chance beating this game, you're gonna have to fork over the cash for all those helpful items like the Miracle Orb.

** The Magitech Cannon. Aside from [[spoiler:nearly killing the WorldTree,]] it has enough destruction force to cause it's victims to decompose ''instantly'' after they die. Imagine how much getting hit by it must hurt...

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: This game is still playable today but it's shown its age. A lot of the stuff that made this game stand out were later done better by later TalesSeries games or became commonplace. (''VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia'' was called "The game that sings" originally because it had a theme song. This is standard routine for the TalesSeries game; but a lot of other games have theme songs, too.) The Linear Motion battle system was also ''really'' cool and innovative for its time; but compared to the other Linear Motion Battle systems (Especially the 3D and pseudo-3D ones) it is Bare-Bones. Even compared to ''VideoGame/TalesOfEternia'''s LMBS, this game's LMBS can frustrate people with how chuggy it is. Also, this game's major twist was that [[spoiler:Dhaos was just a WellIntentionedExtremist]]. (However; Dhaos is still one of the most memorable TalesSeries Villainous Blondes)

* HellIsThatNoise: The music in the Morlia Gallery floors from B11 onward. The lower you go, the more distorted it becomes. Aside from it being a [[BrutalBonusLevel brutal bonus area]], you will want to mute the audio, just so you don't have to listen to that anymore.

** Thanks to the [[SoBadItsGood So Bad]] [[NarmCharm It's Fantastic]] voice acting of the English release, "''WHAT the HECK is THAT?!?!?!''" and "This ends HE-YAHHHH! IN-DIG-NAY-SHUN!"[[note]](mis)spellings may vary[[/note]] are popular in certain circles.

** To a lesser extent, referring to [[spoiler: Dhaos's third form, Plume Dhaos]] as [[spoiler: Disco Dhaos - due to his white suit]] that is similar to [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Mithos Yggdrasil]].

** It'd be more accurate to say that the entire opening scene with Cress, Mint, and Morrison's ancestors fighting Past Dhaos is just one big case of {{Narm}}. Yes, even in Japanese it's hilariously overacted (although Japanese Dhaos does manage to sound {{Badass}} at least).
