It mostly comes down to whether you like the show or not; those who do find it a welcome addition and like the new units, attacks, the way it integrates itself into the universe, Embryo's performance as main villain, etc., while detractors find that the show does not mesh well with the others, creates gaping inconsistencies, does not deserve to be featured in the same verse as beloved classics, find Embryo to be a lousy villain who draws attention away from the more fascinating villains and believe his kidnapping of every heroine to MindRape them and turn them into his harem ''screams'' GratuitousRape and disrespects all of said heroines as a result, and would overall prefer that ''Cross Ange'' never had been added to the roster. ** Part of the lyrics of [[AwesomeMusic/SuperRobotWars "THE EXCEEDER"]] in the second verse is "Super Robot o kanaero", which translates to "Grant us the Super Robots". While the song itself is mostly known for its awesomeness, that line becomes hilariously ironic because the game which featured the song actually had ''way'' more Real Robots than Super Robots, so it's like Music/JAMProject is telling Bandai Namco that they want more Super Robots. And guess what? [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX Each games]] [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsT afterwards]] increased the number of Super Robots (until it's more or less equal in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsT T]]''), so Bandai Namco looked like complying to JAM Project's subtle request.

** Despite the series listing featuring many [[UnexpectedCharacter unexpected additions]], many fans had expressed their disappointment the majority being used in ''V'' are reused from the ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ Third Super Robot Wars Z]]'' duology. This got worse when it was revealed the game also recycles music not only from the aforementioned duology, but ''[[VideoGame/GundamVsSeries Gundam Extreme VS]]'' as well.
** Most units in ''V'' reuse the attacks they had in the ''Third Z'' duology: although [[OlderThanTheyThink animation recycling isn't new in the franchise]], it's usually reserved for when games are part of an on-going series (for instance, ''Alpha''), allowing the animators to focus on the newcomers, except WordOfGod admitted ''V'' is a standalone installment. *** As a corollary, while many units do gain a new attack or earn a re-animated one, some players are miffed by the new animations, even finding problems with them. For example, take the [[Manga/GetterRobo Shin Getter]] and its two new animated attacks, the "Getter Razor" and "Stoner Sunshine": both feature the typical robot cut-in where the machine's art style briefly resembles its counterpart from the {{Anime}}, but the style hearkens much closer to its depiction from the [=OVA=] than the similar ''Third Z'' cut-ins, which haven't changed at all, making the visual difference in style extremely obvious.

** Before the party gains control of it, Mazinger ZERO is a monster who seeks to be the sole super robot in existence, and will do anything to achieve that ambition. To make matters worse, it's implied this incarnation of ZERO is barely using its full power.

* ScrappyMechanic: Given the Yamato's WaveMotionGun is its signature weapon, some players weren't happy the attack is locked out for use until the few final scenarios of the game, made available only if they trigger the "IF Route". [[PurposefullyOverpowered Given its power]] and the morality of using it in the original series, there's a good InUniverse reason the attack is sealed for the most of ''V''.
* SpecialEffectFailure: If a unit is in the red sea of Universal Century Earth, [[DevelopersForesight the sea background will be recolored to match]]. The problem? The ''sky'' is colored red too, even though it's commonly shown to be blue in other shots with the red sea. [[https://youtu.be/7HYeRKf9p2Q?t=19m21s This can get particularly jarring when some attack animations show a red sky in one shot, only to transition to a blue sky in the next shot.]]
** As mentioned in the StockFootage entry on the main page, some of the animations during the Vilkiss and Yamato attack animations are outright recycled from their [[Anime/CrossAnge home]] [[Anime/SpaceBattleshipYamato2199 series]], and the difference in animation quality between the footage and in-game animations are obvious.
* {{Squick}}: Embryo hitting on any female pilot who attacks him is creepy enough. It's ''extra'' creepy when he does it to ''Puru''.

** In a similar vein to ''Gundam ZZ'' and its absence in the ''Z'' saga, it seemed like Creator/BandaiNamcoEntertainment and Creator/{{Sunrise}} had no plans regarding ''Crossbone Gundam'', despite fans clamoring for something from it. Its return in ''V'' is considered surprising and untimely, given that, at the time, its sole appearance was in one game released over a decade ago.
