** In this series, Bison and Shadowlaw are given the backstory that they want to conquer the world so they can force humanity to stop abusing the environment and save the planet, almost making them [[WellIntentionedExtremist well-intentioned extremists]]. In the games, Bison is pretty much just rapacious and power-hungry, and Shadaloo is merely his tool in the domination of the world.

* HeartwarmingInHindsight: This series has Sagat on surprisingly friendly terms with Ryu considering that, at the time the series was released, as far as fans knew, the game's canon had Sagat very much ''hating'' Ryu and wanting revenge on him for scarring him. Then cue ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'' and how Sagat's plot progresses in both it and its ''Super'' revision and now Sagat and Ryu are on far better terms than they used to be, almost like this very series.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Was very popular in Brazil during the '90s to the point that it was more successful than ''Manga/DragonBall'', which was aired on the same channel and anime block. Plus, Brazil was one of the first countries to air this anime outside of Japan. To this day there are still fans who get this adaptation's incarnations of the characters confused for the main game's backstory and personality traits.
