This is the first time we're shown Jasper's more sensitive side when she tells Lapis that she no longer cares about cutting down the Crystal Gems and just wants to re-fuse with her, and is clearly at Lapis's mercy rather than the other way around, as it had been previously implied. We quickly find out, however, that Jasper has not changed at all.

** Also, this is one of the few times the Gems aren't around when Jasper appears, and this was an impulse trip to make Lapis happy. If Jasper had hurt Steven and Greg, [[AdultFear how long would it have taken for the Gems to find out]]?

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: Considering how subtle the signs of real-life abuse, both physical and emotional, tend to be, not to mention how complicated the topics UsefulNotes/VictimBlaming and mutual toxicity in relationships are, it would have been impossible for the show to get it's point across about them in any way other than completely on-the-nose.
