*UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Vedek Yassim may come across as this with her supposedly HeroicSuicide being meant to shake Kira out of being a so called 'collaborator'. Kira is given an InformedWrongness treatment for going along with Sisko's intent to keep Bajor out of the war and on the Dominion's good side. Sisko is not merely a Federation officer, but the MessianicArchetype of Bajor who pushed for the non aggression pact with the Dominion in the first place to save it. The Vedek is not merely opposing her government's policy but intentionally going against her Emissary's will instead of putting her faith in him to know he has good reasons for the arrangement, and that he will return to save them. Her suicide could be looked at as a SenselessSacrifice when observed through that lens, and even outright potentially endangering her entire world by ignoring a long term strategy for short sighted defiance.

* HateSink: Keevan. He's ''meant'' to be a despicable character from the beginning, hated by the characters and audience alike. He's a marked contrast with the far more honorable Remata'Klan.

* TearJerker: Several moments in the final scene from this episode, but perhaps the fact that Remata'Klan follows Keevan's orders despite knowing that it would be pointless suicide, because it's "[[HonorBeforeReason the order of things]]".
-->'''Sisko''': Keevan doesn't deserve the unwavering loyalty you're giving him.\\
'''Remata'Klan''': He does not have to earn my loyalty, Captain. He has had it from the moment I was conceived. I am a Jem'Hadar. He is a Vorta. It is the order of things.\\
'''Sisko''': Do you really want to give up your life for the 'order of things'?\\
