* ShippingGoggles: Not as many fans as Akitsu shippers, but Uzume does have her fans who want her with Minato. [[spoiler:Especially considering that after Uzume was terminated, bringing her back to life became Minato's motivation to last through the Sekirei Plan]].

* EvilIsSexy: Yukari is literally dumbstruck upon first meeting [[{{Bishonen}} Higa]], who does a sexy casual pose on the hood of his CoolCar. She outgrows this quickly once Higa breaks the rules of Sekirei battle (using his strongest Sekirei 2 on 1 against Shin), kidnaps her, and then uses her as a hostage to force Shin to do his bidding.

* JerkassWoobie: Mikogami Hayato, revealed to be a LonelyRichKid with a ''serious'' case of ParentalAbandonment. Higa's Sekirei may also count, since he tends to KickTheDog by making it clear he doesn't care about them at ''all''.

** Matsu with pretty much [[AnythingThatMoves everyone]].

* {{Fanon}}: A popular theory is that Akitsu will be winged by Minato, and join his harem. Often coupled with a hefty dose of DieForOurShip. [[spoiler: Ends up being Jossed, as she's eventually winged by Mikogami prior to overloading.]]

** Haihane could be mistaken for male until [[GagBoobs losing her jacket]]

* BonusEpisode: Episode 0, a MeasuringDay[=/=]BeachEpisode[=/=]HotSpringsEpisode trifecta included on the first ''Pure Engagement'' DVD.

** ''Karasuba'' is female too. The only reason its hard to tell at times is because unlike the other women she usually doesn't go out of her way to show her femininity off in public and has a fairly gender neutral voice.
* VillainDecay: Benitsubasa and Haihane suffer what is possibly the fastest villain decay in anime history, portrayed as terrifyingly powerful antagonists at the end of season one, but reduced to incompetent jokes by the start of season two.

* AcceptableHardLuckTargets: [[PerpetualPoverty Seo]] is constantly struggling to survive because of his laziness, and is often mocked mercilessly as a direct result.

* PlayerPunch: [[spoiler: Uzume's termination.]]

* EvilIsCool: The villains are primarily wealthy, with {{Cool Car}}s and [[SharpDressedMan slick suits]]. Minaka gets to be CrazyAwesome, and is clearly having a blast at the expense of everyone else.

* CrazyAwesome: Minaka always had shades of this; his reason for creating and enforcing the Sekirei Plan is one part Science, one part Godhood and two parts for shits and giggles, but when he [[spoiler: blows up his own building while still inside of it to make the game he was playing with Minato more interesting]] in the anime, he really does show his CrazyAwesome side.

* EarWorm: The songs that play during the two opening credits: ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntC07A0GkUU Sekirei]]'' (Season 1) and ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaTw3YuIFvQ Hakuyoku no Seiyaku ~Pure Engagement~]]'' (Season 2).

* HoYay / LesYay: PLENTY.

* NeutralEvil: Higa is this in spades. When the game rules are against him, he "doesn't participate in such a farce" but he's quick to call upon the rules when he can hide behind them to justify himself.

* MagnificentBastard: Minaka Hiroto

* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The winging scenes in the anime, and Homura's wings in particular are ''stunning''.
