On top of that, bizarre statements that neither experienced any character development throughout the series and likely never will, in effect making the whole show one big ShaggyDogStory (not to mention directly contradicting the events of the show), naturally led to the entire fandom crying DeathOfTheAuthor.

* IKnewIt: Episode 19 proved two popular theories in fandom: [[spoiler:Goto doesn't have a girlfriend and he's been sending himself those messages all along]], and [[spoiler:the last remaining kid when Masayoshi tried to give an inspirational speech in Episode 1 was a ChekhovsGunman]].

* FanCommunityNicknames: The show's fandom as a whole is known as the "Flamencult", and the fans themselves are "Flamenbros".

* WalkingSpoiler: King Torture, [[spoiler:who is the first of many supernatural aspects to appear]].

* {{Asexuality}}: Masayoshi is often labeled this, though many still view him as romantically inclined towards at least Goto.

** It could also be considered a spiritual successor to ''Literature/DonQuixote''. Both are about a man who decides to become a hero after consuming to much escapist fiction, drags a relatively sane companion along on his adventures, and [[spoiler:fights monsters that only exist in his head.]]

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Althought the series started quite normally, the genre shifts, and the large amount of twists are making more than one person wonder what is the staff thinking.

* AudienceAlienatingPremise: A lot of viewers thought this show is like "ComicBook/KickAss meets Franchise/KamenRider" due to six episodes of a vigilante trying to be a hero and beating up thugs. Then, episode 7 onwards came with [[spoiler:the introduction of villains and monsters straight out from the {{Tokusatsu}} and SuperSentai shows]]. Viewers who are unfamiliar with the {{Tokusatsu}} and the SuperSentai genres started to drop the show and those who are still watching it are Tokusatsu fans and those who want to watch it just for fun.
