* SeasonalRot: The series suffered this in the '70s after many of its notable cast members left (Judy Carne, Jo Anne Worley, Creator/GoldieHawn, Arte Johnson, Henry Gibson, Alan Sues) and its once-cutting edge style quickly became dated. By its final season it was incorporating more traditional variety show elements in-between the rapid fire comedy.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: The show's rapid-fire humor and SmashCut pacing were groundbreaking in its day, but will probably seem downright stodgy to subsequent generations who've grown up with an entire pop culture immersed in that style. (And that's not even counting the dated topical content.)

* HarsherInHindsight:
** From their Cocktail Party segment: Judy Carne is kissing Robert Culp but doesn't know who he is. Robert gives her a hint by mentioning his ''Series/ISpy'' costar Creator/BillCosby, but Judy mistakes him for Music/BingCrosby by singing his song "White Christmas". Since then, the joke took on a whole new meaning.

I honestly can't see what's the Harsher In Hindsight part of this, it has to be something that has to do with the show.

** After two seasons, Judy Carne, who was married to Creator/BurtReynolds (1963-1965) and Robert Bergmann (1970-1971), in no small part due to being the show's primary ButtMonkey, was very tired of being the "Sock It To Me" girl and coupled with a few incidents of irascible fans dousing her with water off-show, decided that the show had become "a big, bloody bore", leaving at the end of season two while guesting in season three and appeared less often. Both of her marriages were childless and ended in divorce. In 1978, she was involved in a car accident with her second husband and recovered from a broken neck. She was later arrested for heroin possession, and in 1985, she released her autobiography ''Laughing on the Outside, Crying on the Inside: The Bittersweet Saga of the Sock-It-To-Me Girl'', chronicling her drug addictions, her failed marriage to Burt Reynolds, and her bisexuality.
** Dennis Allen did not fare much better himself, as after the show had ended he fell victim to his own drug addictions before returning to Kansas City and becoming a RecoveredAddict with religious help, settling down and spending the rest of his years there.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: It was a ''huge'' hit in the UK when it debuted on the Creator/{{BBC}} at the start of 1969. Music/TheBeatles loved it; much of the between-song banter on the bootlegged tapes of the ''[[Music/LetItBe Get Back]]'' sessions has them spouting various catchphrases from the show.
