* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Its art style seems pretty similar to most family-friendly 3D animated movies, but hoo boy this movie is far from those kinds of movies. It's pretty obvious from Ronal's crotch bulge on the poster alone that the tagline "For the whole family!" is a [[BlatantLies sarcastic joke.]]

* FridgeBrilliance: Zandra becoming [[spoiler:Ronal's girlfriend]] at the end despite never fighting him may not count as a violation of her shield-maiden vow. According to it, she's supposed to marry and serve the man you best her in combat, which results in her begrudgingly becoming [[spoiler:one of Volcazar's minions]] after she has been vanquished. However, during the climax [[spoiler:Volcazar is killed by Ronal]], which means that, in a way, [[spoiler:Ronal defeated her by proxy]].

* ValuesDissonance:
** Elric's status as the [[AmbiguouslyGay Ambiguously]] CampGay character who we're meant to laugh at can make a lot of viewers uncomfortable.
** One of the aspects of Zandra's character was lifted from ComicBook/RedSonja, specifically the BestHerToBedHer factor. While Sonja was pretty [[FairForItsDay Fair For Her Day]] in many respects, this was not one of them. But even then, the writers of ''Ronal'' actually make it worse; whereas Sonja simply voluntarily (more or less) swore an oath not to ''have sex'' with a man ''unless'' he was able to beat her in combat, Zandra has a rule ''forced upon her by the culture she was raised in'' that she's ''required'' to ''marry'' the first man who defeats her, and to ''obey his every wish'' at that!

* TheWoobie: Ronal at the beginning.

* AllAdultAnimationIsSouthPark: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]. The film is almost ''as'' adult as South Park, though for very different reasons. Rather than being an AnimatedShockComedy, it [[ExaggeratedTrope Exaggerates]] and [[ParodiedTrope Parodies]] the {{Fanservice}} common in classic SwordAndSorcery works like ''Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian'' and ''ComicBook/RedSonja.''

Leading an assault on the Barbarian village, he personally murders [[YouKilledMyFather Gundar]] and [[BadBoss shows an awful treatment of his own troops]], even throttling his [[TheDragon Dragon]] for a minor failure. As he uses the blood of the Barbarians to resurrect Zaal, he forces Zandra to fight for him, abusing her the entire time, before taking on the powers of Zaal and killing many defenseless Barbarians. He plans to wipe out the entire Barbarian clan, then move onto spread darkness and terror throughout the lands, promising that all life will submit to him or die by his hand.
