* VillainDecay: As pointed out in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2y1vteQKwI&t=21m2s this review of the movie]]:
-->Because every fan when they played Resident Evil 3, every single one of them, when they saw Nemesis killing people and being a scary enemy, all of them said in unison: ''You know what would make him better? '''A tragic fucking backstory'''. [[SarcasmMode Because he's not a scary, inhuman monster unless you care about him.]]

* {{Sequelitis}}: The first film is recognized as a decent thriller that, while different from the games, is still good and watchable. This, however, marks Alice's turn into God-Mode Sue and an overall step down in quality.

* {{Sequelitis}}: The first film is recognized as a decent thriller action-thriller that, while different from the games, is still good entertainingly watchable and watchable. doesn't go out of its way to step on the games' canon. This, however, marks Alice's turn into God-Mode Sue Sue, aggressive alteration of the source material's plot and characters to the point that both make ''even less'' sense in the film's context, and an overall step down in quality.quality.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: ''Apocalypse'' kicks off the tradition of including fan-favorite characters from the games, and proceeding to have [[BlackHoleSue Alice completely outclass and overshadow them]].

* JustHereForGodzilla: Many saw the movie simply to see Nemesis blasting people away with a minigun and say his CatchPhrase "STARS".

* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Sienna Guillory spent lots of time studying Jill's movements from the game and putting a lot of effort into her role. Notably on the DVD commentary, she keeps things serious while Milla Jovovich and Oded Fehr are goofing off.

* IdiotBall:
** Jill at times, especially inside the school, where she decides the best course of action is to [[NeverSplittheParty split up]]; give a gun to a civilian with no firearm training (and not even bother to instruct her how to use said firearm); and send the clearly unprepared woman on her way. Terri, of course, dies horribly.
** The UMBRELLA corporation at the end. They've managed to capture a superhuman that has sworn to destroy them- and they give her insanely powerful telekinetic powers and then let her go.
* IdiotPlot:
** The UMBRELLA corporation kills the population of an entire city just so they can find out who would win in a fight between Alice and Nemesis.
** Even better, they cover up their nuclear strike with a story about a nuclear power plant melting down, because somebody at Umbrella apparently thinks that a catastrophic nuclear meltdown that kills millions(making it worse then Chernobyl by a long shot) isn't going to be investigated by the US government.

* MarySue: While Alice is this in each film to some degree, Apocalypse is possibly the worst example in the series, including, but not limited to:
** GodModeSue: Remember how powerful and fearful Nemesis is in the game? Alice defeats him without breaking too much of a sweat, using only her fists and a pair of police batons. And where Jill and the others struggle to land even a single shot on a bunch of Lickers, Alice takes them out with only a few bullets and an exploding motorcycle.
** BlackHoleSue: Everything in the film eventually boils down to Alice. Have some survivors actually being competent? Alice shows up to save everyone at the last second and make them look like incompetent dummies. Umbrella's focus also shifts from containing the virus to getting Alice, essentially making the entire outbreak a testing ground to see how powerful she is. This movie also begins the trend of her taking other characters' signature scenes from the games, in this case Claire's "drop the gun and catch it" scene.
** JerkSue: At times, Alice doesn't seem to be the slightest bit interested in actually helping others, and implies that it's inconvenient for her to do so.

* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: At the beginning of the movie, the car transporting Angela is hit hard by a truck and gets the driver killed. Angela, however, survives and we have a shot of her bloodied hand twitching. She shows up later at the school all nice, cleaned-up and visibly unharmed like nothing ever happened.
