** Some of the political correctness regarding LGBT issues comes across as this. Characters go so far out of their way not to offend LGBT characters that it comes across as a bit unnatural. This is addressed in this [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2987 guest comic]], where it shows that the conflict would have to be caused by a straw character, since the main cast is so accepting by nature.

** Corpse Witch, Faye's boss at the underground robot league. Her displeasure of Faye fixing up May can be seen a number of different ways. Some fans are somewhat sympathetic, seeing her as a boss cracking down on malfeasance. This is especially true as bringing in an outsider to an illegal business could theoretically put the whole operation at risk. Others see her as an example of FantasticRacism, abusing her human employee. But most simply take her at face value as a simple {{Jerkass}}.

** There is a notable DoubleStandard at work within the strip, in relation to the author's differing attitudes towards men's and women's consumption of alcohol. The male characters can drink several beers, and this is depicted as an amusing and even socially lubricatory way to pass the time. Faye, on the other hand, is depicted as an [[TheAlcoholic alcoholic]], because she drinks whiskey. For the sake of comparison, five US pints of regular-strength beer, about what any one of the guys would drink in a typical evening, contains slightly more alcohol than Faye's favoured way of drinking alcohol, a US half-pint of whiskey. The author later decided that generally sensible and hard-headed Faye [[CharacterDerailment needed to be made into an example of the evils of alcohol abuse]] by making her drink at work. [[spoiler: This got her fired, and she later [[RecoveredAddict went on the wagon.]]]] The notion of FunctionalAddict appears not be available to anyone.

* Corpse Witch, the manager/owner/whatever of the illegal robot fighting ring. Comic 3177 shows her taking disciplinary action against Faye for her involvement in repairing and to some extent, upgrading May's chassis. The next panel shows Bubbles (who was there all along, but didn't make her presence known) apparently musing on this, and not in a good way, with a strong implication that CW is in tne wrong. The SJWs who infest the Forum contort themselves in various knots over this, but CW is entirely in tne right; Faye and Bubbles have used resources owned by the business, for a purpose which they must have known would not be sanctioned by management, on behalf of a third party unconnected with the business.
** Faye looks offended that CW is proposing to deduct the cost of materials from her pay, but she must know she has committed a sacking offence - technically, theft.
** Faye also shows her rarely-seen supportive side by not offering the defence that Bubbles instigated and supervised the whole affair. Bubbles isn't, strictly speaking, Faye's superior but definitely has seniority, and the necessary technical knowledge
** Bubbles is shown standing in the shadows without announcing her presence, no mean trick for a figure like an NFL defensive tackle, and allowing Faye to take the bullet. It's also implied that Bubbles regards CW as being in tne wrong, to some extent.
** CW would probably have been entirely justified in sacking May for cause, but has delivered a warning. Faye has got off lightly.
** May was terrified of getting involved, because of her parolee status, but was talked into it by Momo, of all people. CW hasn't (so far) threatened May, simply required Faye to make the loss good - and given the possible cost, how far THAT will be implemented, remains to be seen.
** Bubbles is strongly implied to have been, and possibly still be to some extent, an unstable and dangerous character. CW appears fully aware of this and employs and houses Bubbles all the same
** Faye walked into her job despite having no relevant CV at all. We have no idea WHY a young woman in her 20s working in a coffee shop, should have relevant skills (her rural background doesn't equal growing up on a farm, after all). Big gamble on CWs part, although it appears to have worked out
