** Some of the political correctness regarding LGBT issues comes across as this. Characters go so far out of their way not to offend LGBT characters that it comes across as a bit unnatural. This is addressed in this [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2987 guest comic]], where it shows that the conflict would have to be caused by a straw character, since the main cast is so accepting by nature.

** Yelling Bird's "And then they [all] fucked!" (from [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1453 this guest comic]]) is popular on image boards like Funnyjunk or Imgur, as a response to posts containing romance or flirtation.

** A rather philosophical bit of NightmareFuel: Faye and Bubbles speculate on the possibility of an omniscient AI, and [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3240 the idea that our world is a simulation being run by one.]] Bubbles notes that such a being is physically impossible, since a thing of arbitrary intelligence would require arbitrary amounts of energy, but that could be overcome if such an intelligence weren't conscious- that is, if it weren't aware of the world outside itself. Such a being would be incapable of understanding or sympathizing with the creatures it simulates, [[CrapsackWorld which would explain the apparent amorality of the universe.]]

* MisaimedFandom:
** Apparently TV Tropes writers. Based on Jeph's twitter (Sep 4th, 2009) and news posts on the comic main page, he was annoyed about Hanners/Marigold LesYay shippers, poking fun at it in [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1492 this]] comic. Of course, he also stated that this page is like "every idiotic comment in his forums on one page". Some writers take this website better than others. Giving into his misaimed fandom led to his CreatorBreakdown, when someone on {{Tumblr}} sent [[http://jephjacques.com/post/34681975880/submitted-without-comment a butthurt comment to his blog]] ranting about what Marigold looked like in the bikini, that completely misses the point of Marigold's entire character. In fact, Jeph tends to view a large chunk of his fanbase in this way. He seems to dislike having others analyze and speculate on his works, as evidenced by his opinion of TV Tropes.
** [[https://twitter.com/jephjacques/status/568604407257919488 Jeph then made a Twitter post]] calling the {{Reddit}} sub for his comic "Toxic." The subreddit was not pleased with that label given many of the posts actually SUPPORTED his strips.

** Speaking of Twitter, Jeph's Twitter feed sometimes goes off the rails, going against his fans. [[https://twitter.com/jephjacques/status/592815509747462145 One particular post noted him equating his blocked list as a trophy of sorts.]]

** Hannelore, like you wouldn't believe!
*** This is part of the reason for Hannelore's popularity with male fans.

** Hannelore, like you wouldn't believe!
*** This
Hannelore is part Marten's neurotic but well-meaning neighbor. She has a number of the reason for Hannelore's popularity with male fans.disorders that make a normal life difficult at times, but she always tries her best.

** HANNELORE. You just want to hug her, except that would only distress her more. [[http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2117 Her childhood]] carves her Woobie status in stone. Apparently she spent a lot of her childhood freaking out, sedated, and completely crippled by her neuroses. Seems to be coping better nowadays, though.

** Some of the Website/FourChan boards have made the habit of mocking Jeph, [[http://imgur.com/a/8j9fb particularly the "You and Me" strip by editing it (NSFW).]] Some note the edits actually help IMPROVE the strips, while criticizing Jeph's lackluster efforts as of late. [[https://twitter.com/jephjacques/status/640167784819871744 Jeph thinks otherwise.]]

* BrokenAesop: Emily having a moment of emotional depth to complain about how people view her behavior falls flat on its face given that Jeph had played all of that for laughs until that very strip.

* {{Narm}}: Emily tearfully complaining about how people view her behavior falls flat on its face given that Jeph had played all of that for laughs until that very ''strip''.

* PanderingToTheBase: Claire Augustus is often cited by critics of Questionable Content as a character that is mostly there to pander. Considering she was known first as an awkward intern that had a more cynical view on life, after being outed by Jeph, she has turned into an unrealistic expy of transgender individuals. Her relationship to Marten is mostly drama-free and "perfect"; what conflicts that pop up is resolved in two to three strips (like many relationship conflicts in Questionable Content). She is often shown to never be in the wrong, and after the time skip, seems to be more confrontational and hypocritical about other folks. Her rant about having a hard life being transgender when Pintsize remarks that technology has advanced so much that ANYONE can change themselves on a whim without little to no repercussions is seen by some critics as Jeph retconning past strips (the fact that Claire has Marten, her Mom, and Clinton that are accepting of her new gender identity conflicts with her ranting about not having a supportive network of people willing to accept her new gender identity) and in a possible ironic twist, [[UnfortunateImplications unintentionally revealing that Claire hasn't had surgery yet to transition from being male to female.]]

** However, this seems to be partially rectified, with a personality flaw of Claire's (trying to shape other's lives for selfish reasons) being established...but then Claire realizes the issue almost immediately.
