* FanonDiscontinuity: While not completely out of the question (see FanficFuel), there's a noticeable disparity between post-canon fanworks that keep the Burnish losing their powers after the Promare departs and fanwork that has them keep it even after the end of the movie.

** With Lio's past hardly being touched upon in canon or in extra material, it has lead many to speculate on how he got his Burnish powers, as well as how he became so powerful by the time he appears in the film.
** The aftermath of the Promare returning to their home dimensions and leaving their Burnish hosts. It has lead to many fan works exploring how this would not only affect the public image of the Burnish after the world has been saved, but also how the Burnish will now live their lives without their Promare's inside of them as well as how they cope with that loss.

** Burning Rescue and Lio's teammates don't really have much in the way of significant screen presence, with the focus almost exclusively on Galo and Lio. Some have said that the movie would've worked better as an anime series to flesh the rest of the characters out.

* ValuesDissonance: From the Japanese crowd, surprisingly. The English dub's version of Galo reviving Lio (particularly the part in the sequence where he's telling the dying Lio to keep clinging onto life) is pretty infamous among fans. One particular line, where Galo tells Lio to "stay with [him]"[[note]]In place of "Kieru na!", or "Don't disappear!"[[/note]], drew eyebrows since its use as a line in rescue or medical settings is uncommon in Japan. It ''is'' however known in the romantic "be by my side" context--as such, may fans saw it as a bit of ShipTease akin to an AnguishedDeclarationOfLove.

* ValuesDissonance: From the Japanese crowd, surprisingly. The English dub's "Stay with me!" scene is pretty infamous among fans, given it's not a phrase Japanese firefighters commonly say (whether it be English or in their native language); as such, they saw it as a bit of ShipTease akin to a WackyMarriageProposal.

* LGBTFanbase: Unsurprisingly, the movie has a lot of queer male fans aside from the {{Yaoi fangirl}}s due to the HoYay between Lio and Galo that features a kiss. Just like how [[Anime/KillLaKill Trigger's]] [[Anime/LittleWitchAcademia other]] [[Anime/DarlingInTheFranxx shows]] [[Anime/SSSSGridman that]] feature notable female leads have their Les Yay played up in marketing regardless of who they ended up with, Trigger does the same for the movie's two male leads.

* FoeYay: It's been commented on that the poster for Promare looks like Galo and Lio are about to kiss. Becomes HilariousInHindsight when in the film's climax, Galo [[KissOfLife revives Lio]] ''[[HoYay by kissing him]]''.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Heris goes along with Kray's plan, knowing full well what she is doing to the Burnish. While it's all to secure Aina a seat on Kray's ship, this comes off as extraordinarily callous as she only starts to question Kray when he is unwilling to stall the launch for Aina, and finally turns against him after learning of his murder of Prometh and that the Promare will destroy the Earth, not because she saw anything wrong with torturing innocent Burnish. She also destroys the Promatech engine by over fueling it, causing the Burnish agony based on their screaming. Overall, the excuse that she wanted to save Aina is pretty flimsy.
