Not YMMV trope(s). Moving to main page.

* [[HeartbrokenBadass Heartbroken]] {{Badbutt}}: Jesse, after Nova's father orders him not to take her to prom. Especially shown when he picks a fight with three dudes who caused problems for his mom's restaurant.

* FridgeLogic: Why do all the students ride a limo to the prom if the dance is taking place at the school gym? Renting a limo for a 5-10 minute drive is sort of extreme.
** RealityIsUnrealistic: It's a status thing. Plenty of teenagers have rented limos to even Homecoming dances, to show off.

* AcceptableTargets: one of the characters ends up going to prom with his short, homely, overweight friend, and this is supposed to be played for laughs.
** She's his stepsister, and their date is actually played pretty sweetly.

* JerkSue: Nova belittles Jesse for being so upset about his parental abandonment, and ''he'' is the one who apologizes for pointing out to her how silly her ''obsession'' with prom is.
* SoOkayItsAverage: The movie isn't great, but it isn't really awful either. Just really generic and predictable.
