Now, in Gen V, she's finally gotten her wish in the form of Munna! With the number of abandoned and eventually reused Pokémon designs, it could have been an injoke.
** A scientist in Devon Corp. back in ''[[PokemonRubyAndSapphire Ruby and Sapphire]]'' stated "I'm trying to develop a device that visually reproduces the dreams of POKÉMON... but it's not going well." Munna's evolution, Musharna, has an ability called "Dream Smoke", that lets you "sync" your Pokémon with the official website and do Minigames and such with it, and even catch special Pokémon.

* FanPreferredCouple: The main character (both the girl and the boy) x [[{{Bishounen}} N]] is already quite popular, as is shipping the player characters together, especially compared to past main character couples such as [[PokemonRedAndBlue Red x Leaf]], [[PokemonGoldAndSilver Ethan x Kris or Lyra]], [[PokemonRubyAndSapphire Brendan x May]], and [[PokemonDiamondAndPearl Lucas x Dawn]]. The chunky red monocle, triangular hair fringes, and his hilariously skinny ankles on display just put the last nails in the design coffin. If he weren't such a CompleteMonster, nobody would've taken him seriously.

** [[spoiler:Was the entirety of Team Plasma sans Ghetsis truly StupidGood {{Well Intentioned Extremist}}s who thought they were doing the right thing a la N, or were some in on Ghetsis's true intentions and merely playing up the facade in order to gain brownie points from the guy when he finished his conquering? The Sages at the very least seem aware, since they slip up occasionally and refer to Ghetsis as their leader (followed by him correcting them that he's one of the Sages and supposedly no more powerful than the rest of them). Similarly, they hint that N's desire to fight the player is interfering with Ghetsis's plans. Then there's the fact that the Shadow Triad is loyal to Ghetsis even after he reveals the truth... Heck, the two grunts who [[KickTheDog kick the Munna]] early on hint that they were aware that Ghetsis was lying.]]

** No Gen I-IV Pokémon pre-National Dex. Which means '''no more [[GoddamnedBats Zubats, Tentacools, and Geodudes]]'''.

** There are 156 new Pokémon. That's more than have EVER been introduced at once.

** And we finally have a fully-evolved pure Dragon (all previous fully-evolved and Legendary Dragons have been dual-types).

When defeated, he mocks N for this very reason, and calls him a warped, defective boy incapable of understanding humans. So , he's very likely surpassed Cyrus in terms of horrific evil. At least Cyrus started out with good intentions and [[CryForTheDevil had an explanation for why he became the horrible person he became]].]]

** The evolved forms of Tepig are '''yet''' another Fire/Fighting starter. Thanks to an UnpleasableFanbase, it seems people focused their dislike on Tepig's evolutions being the third consecutive Fire/Fighting starter.

* BaseBreaker: Skyla is either [[EnsembleDarkhorse adored for her Fanservice-y outfit]] or [[TheScrappy loathed for the same reason]].
** Scraggy and Scrafty are either cute, UglyCute or just plain ugly depending on who you ask.
** Munna and Musharna (especially Musharna) are considered adorable by some fans and creepy by others.
** N is starting to become this, although a lot of it is merely that [[ItsPopularNowItSucks He's Popular, Now He Sucks]]. There are also many people, though, who denounce him as being less {{Badass}} than previous Poke-villains like Giovanni or Cyrus.

** Even the CopyProtection in the roms has this to some degree. Several people are hailing the lack of Experience as the new [[SelfImposedChallenge Nuzlocke Challenge]], [[SubjectiveTrope but as always]], YourMileageMayVary.

** The version exclusives may invoke this as well. Black version gets the [[UnfortunateImplications cotton line]], Smoochum-esque goth line, and the vulture [[DarkestAfrica with a bone through its hair]]. Meanwhile, White version gets a [[DeepSouth southern belle]] and [[{{Eaglelander}} American Eagle]], but also the [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking cellular reproduction Pokémon]].

* CrazyAwesome / RuleOfCool: Several Pokémon, especially some of the more audacious combinations, run on this. A buffalo with an afro, a jousting bug, a samurai otter/seal/sea lion, a mecha/golem, a HenshinHero, an eagle with the US color scheme, an ice cream, gangster crocodile, punk lizard, the three freak'n musketeers, a trio of giant elemental dragons with aspects of Taoist ''and'' Norse mythology, a robotic insect with a laser on its back, a killer dinosaur-bird, and last but not least, a mummy Pokémon whose ability is the Pokémon equivalent of the zombie plague.
** Within that group, Vanillite and its evolutions. And nevermind the fact it's an Ice cream, but the champion has one!

*** Burgh is in between two gyms that are fairly difficult, but is easily taken care of. Likewise, Iris or Drayden is really almost too easy at that point in the game, as your Pokemon will easily be the same level and they only use 3.
