** Apollo and Trucy's relationship. [[spoiler:Though ''Apollo Justice'' reveals their siblings, this is the second game to sidestep Apollo and Trucy finding out. Some fans are okay with this since the post-credits scene hints that the reveal is coming soon while others feel it's a cop out, especially since the game addresses but the Gramaryes and Apollo's biological father.]]

* MoralEventHorizon: The officials leading the Kingdom of Khura'in's genocidal DisproportionateRetribution against defense attorneys have seemingly crossed this before the game's even out. This way of thinking may have also brought Gaspen Payne along for the ride (it's one thing to be a jerk in a courtroom where it's assumed both parties are on equal footing but he enjoys working in Khura'in purely because he can get everyone sentenced guilty without any objection, which basically puts him on the same footing as Manfred von Karma).

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Potdino Nikawas became popular very quickly after his design was unveiled, with many fans endearingly calling him "Kurain Jesus". [[spoiler: And he only became even more popular during the stream when he revealed his true personality: a HotBlooded musician who can pull off quite an EpicRiff]]

* FanNickname: "Kurain Jesus", for Potdino Nikawas. [[spoiler:After the stream, "Heavy Metal Jesus" became just as, if not more, popular for the same.]]

** Fans are annoyed that once again the game will not be getting a physical retail release, only getting a digital [=eShop=] release. Others are shouting them down and saying it's better that they're getting the game at all and to "just accept the digital future".

** [[spoiler: TheReveal of Druk's death. Apollo has to prove a suspect disappears from a closed chamber by channeling. Since only Druk and Maya was found alive in the room, and Maya is pretty much alive, Apollo comes to the conclusion that the Druk they met after the murder is the suspect all along. At first he doesn't want to believe it. But after the judge calls for another thorough search of the murder scene, Ema reluctantly reports that Druk's body was found hidden in a coffin. This causes a severe breakdown to both Apollo and Nayuta, whom Druk was a father figure to (In fact, he is Nayuta's biological father). Apollo keeps shouting "Please let my theory be wrong!" all the time and bangs his head onto the desk when his theory is confirmed. He even goes into a BSOD and starts questioning why he became an attorney in the first place.]]
* ViewerGenderConfusion: It's really hard to tell what gender Nayuta Saadmadhi is, whose face borders on looking like a {{Bifauxnen}} woman and a very {{Bishonen}} man. It doesn't help that his gender wasn't mentioned at all when the character was announced. The anime prologue finally resolved this by showing he has a clearly masculine voice.

** [[spoiler: The truth about Case 3, Turnabout Ritual. Ogamu/Fon Myou was killed by Sara because she caught him snooping around the revolutionary's secret base. To quote, she had to kill a person whom she thought as a son just to hide the fact that she and her husband are part of the revolutionary army. Malmel found out about this and make it look like it was Maya who killed him. He later then commit suicide and again make it as if he had been murdered by Maya all just to save his pregnant wife from persecution because the law demanded that, if a person is found guilty, those related to him and his defense attorney be found equally guilty. Remember, one piece of the evidence is a picture of the four of them happily having a meal like a family, and it is broken all just because of one law. Made even more heart wrenching is the final goodbye between Sara and Malmel, who is channeled by Maya during the trial.]]

* MemeticMutation: It was common to assume that Apollo had died, given the subtitle of this game. Of course, being Apollo, [[{{Jossed}} he's]] [[CatchPhrase fine]], but even after a trailer revealed Apollo as being in the game alive and well, the jokes didn't stop.

** The turnabout which involves Apollo facing against Phoenix led to numerous [[CaptainAmericaCivilWar Civil War]] jokes, largely because of the similarity of the conflict between the heroes.

[[TooDumbToLive He doesn't take it.]] The man lunges, and Nauyta effortlessly dodges his attack and then ''[[OneHitKO one-shots him]]''. Bad. Ass.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: In the anime trailer, when Phoenix high-tails it to Khura'in, he accidentally forgets to put his luggage in the taxi, and then spills it at the airport. Same old ButtMonkey we know and love!

** Some people are disappointed with how Maya barely changed in between Trials and Tribulations and this game, adding only a hood, more noticeable lipstick, and a bit more mature body. Others think it's actually a pretty good balance between nostalgia and maturity.
** Two words: Lawyer Genocide. Some think it's an idea so ridiculous it might actually work in-universe, others think it's a stupid plot point even by Ace Attorney standards.

* VisualEffectsOfAwesome:
** Even early screenshots of the game resemble the higher resolution of the iOS port of Dual Destinies.

** The channeling dance demonstrated by Leifa is a great achievement by itself as the most elaborate animation in series history thus far.
