* AlternativeJokeInterpretation: Some fans have taked [[spoiler: Tomoko admiting she has no idea what ending give to the movie and that she thought she will figure it out at when the moment came]] at the end of Chapter 211 as a meta commentary from ''Creator/NicoTanigawa'' admiting they had no idea what ending give to the very long movie arc or even the series as a whole.

** Lampshaded in the the Volume 18 Special Editon where apparently all the male characters disappear because of the Special being a AffectionateParody to the {{Yonkoma}} genre ...except for Wada, [[CutenessOverload who gets a pass for being cute enough.]]

* DoNotDoThisCoolThing: Ogino is clearly meant to be an example of what not to do when dealing with your students issues, given her lack of tact at dealing with Tomoko's situation would often put her in more humilliating situations more often that not and she ends up coming up as a invasive annoyance rather that the CoolTeacher she wants people to think she is. However given besides Megumi, Ogino was the only character that was actually trying to help Tomoko in the early portion of the manga and the fact that she ends up grouping Tomoko up with Yoshida, Yuri, and Ucchi for the school trip which indeed ends up making Tomoko get friends at last, there's a lot of fans who actually consider Ogino to be an unironic CoolTeacher despite her extremely flawed way of handling the situation.

** Should the manga have ended already? You would find a good number of fans online arguing that once Tomoko gained a solid group of friends (the End of Second Year or the Disneyland Arc being common points where fans point out this happened) the story losed any point and the rest of the series can be seen as unnecesary. The other side of the fandom does defend the extension of the story arguing is much more interesting to see Tomoko actually interacting with the friendships she has made, allows to explore more of the other characters and think Tomoko gaining different challenges besides trying to become more popular was the better choice. There's also a division between those who think the series should end with a GraduateFromTheStory or want to see Tomoko in other stages of her life.
** The Tomoki and Sachi ship. For some fans it's an unexpected but welcome pairing. For others it's an unexpected and forced pairing. What side a reader falls on also tends to track with whether they like or dislike yuri ShipTeasing elements metioned above. Although some dislike it because they feel that the elements of Sachi's character that made her surprisingly popular are being downplayed to accomodate it. That's not even getting into the fans who ship Tomoki with either Yoshida or Komiyama. In fact the entire attempt at giving Tomoki an UnwantedHarem can be seen as a base breaker.

** Sachi quickly became extremely popular over her introduction for being a chilling AlphaBitch whose appearences [[KnightOfCerebus are taked much more seriously]] but has started gaining some HypeBacklash of some fans who either don't see the big deal or don't feel she fits well with the tone of the manga. Also because of her popularity she started to get more and more screentime despite not having much to do with the recurring arcs and so far [[UnknownRival having not interacted with Tomoko yet]] leading some fans to accuse her of being an SpotlightStealingSquad and a major source of the ArcFatigue of the movie arc, meanwhile other fans are fairly fascinated to where her storyline is going so naturally don't see it as an issue.

On the other hand you will find a good number of viewers who see it as a unlikeable brat with no interesting traits besides reacting to the girl's antics and liking soccer who gets too much screentime and think he started lacking any purpose in the manga once Tomoko gained friends and has very poor CharacterDevelopment in comparison to his sister. Whatever his UnwantedHarem storyline is hilarious or a forced way to keep the character around is up to debate. * ArcFatigue: In general some fans have grew tired of the third year setting of later chapters feeling it has overstayed his welcome, in contrast with the first year running for 38 chapters (2 years in real life) and the second year running for 83 chapters (4 years in real life), the third year has being going on for 95 chapters (6 years and counting) and has covered barely a little more that half of the year. A major reason of the fatigue is because this portion of the manga would commonly have the characters reflect over things they would do in the future like what would they do when they go to college or teasing a potential road trip once the year ends leading to some fans wishing it would skip to any of those options already.
** The movie arc became infamous in the fandom to the point of being compared with the previous TropeNamer. It started on Chapter 178 when Tomoko and Nemoto started planning to make a movie for the Cultural Festival and it started avanzing intermittently for the following forty chapters, Chapter 186 has her presenting the idea. Chapter 201 has Tomoko finally writing the script after multiple chapters of doubting on what she was gonna make, Chapter 204 is a 3-parter of the characters trying to start filming and they don't conclude with the movie until Chapter 212. Then Chapter 213-214 are both 3-parters dealing with the day before the festival only for the Cultural Festival to finally start in Chapter 215. While is not particulary bad if [[BetterOnDVD you read it in one sitting]] the few weeks that happened in universe translated to three years outside of it not helped by the ScheduleSlip getting really bad because of the creators's own issues, once the Festival finally started many fans were less excited and more expecting it to be over soon so the manga could go with something else.
** For all of Sachi's popularity, some fans have grown tired of much time has passed since her introduction while she has yet to make anything of relevance to the plot despise having lots of screentime and hasn't even met Tomoko yet. Part of the reason can be atributed to the ongoing Movie Arc going on at the same time that the Sacchi subplot.

* OneSceneWonder: The friendless senior student with who Tomoko talks during his graduation in Chapter 37, he's really only in this one chapter but it's quite a memorable one.

** Tomoko and Wada was also a rather popular option given he was the first male character Tomoko could talk to regulary back in the day, sadly it lost steam once Wada went back to be a LivingProp. Then chapter 192 gave Wada an AmbiguouslyGay implication that may or may not have been a joke.

** Wada is rather popular for his WholesomeCrossdresser tendencies, sharing some of Tomoko's quirks and pastimes and for being the very first male Tomoko could talk regulary.

* OCStandIn: Pretty much any male character who isn't [[BigLittleBrother Tomoki]] is either a LivingProp, a SatelliteCharacter or a RecurringExtra, leading to tons of otherwise irrelevant or minor characters getting more relevance and defined personalities in fanfic and fanart every time someone wants to write a male character in the setting, but by far the most prominents are Wada and Kakinuma, the former for being the very first male character Tomoko could talk regulary with (and therefore ''[[ShippingGoggles the easiest way to ship Tomoko with a male character]]'') and the latter for being the closest thing to a male OtakuSurrogate the series has and because on his latter appearences he was commonly bickering with Minami (and therefore '' the easiest way to ship Minami with a male character'')

*** Wada was another AscendedExtra that suddenly started talking with Tomoko once she became more social but he stands up as the first ''male'' character Tomoko started talking regularly and who happened to share some of her interests. While Tomoko dismisses [[ShipSinking the chance to being attracted to him almost immediately]] ([[ShippingGoggles not like that's gonna stop fans from shipping them anyway]]) he could have still being a interesting addition to the cast and a potential TheOneGuy for Tomoko's friend group specially after his WholesomeCrossdresser tendencies were revealed later on the manga but after a couple of appearences he went back to be a LivingProp and doesn't seem to hang out with Tomoko anymore.

** Alternatively Tomoko could have gained a close male friend showing not all important relationship between male and females had to be romantic. Wada seemed to be leading to this way before he went back to be a LivingProp.

* MexicansLoveSpeedyGonzales: This manga about an unflatteringly stereotypical geek owes its success to the very type of geek Tomoko herself is. This is primarily because, as at least one has said, it hits so close to home.

** Chapter 90 has Tomoko's mom finding out about loner with no friends. This is not followed up in any following chapter and given it was around the time Tomoko was gaining friends doesn't really have any impact in the story.
