Gedeon manages to survive, and the aftermath is pure SceneryGorn, with everything covering in dust, along with [[NothingIsScarier no one in sight, and complete silence]]. The entire shot of part of New York City completely empty is surreal.

** Any of the times Jules and Gedeon think about each other while separated.
*** Jules fears from the start that Gedeon is inside the North Tower, heading up the stairs, because he was with Tony, and Jules figures that's what Tony's doing. Gedeon, meanwhile, heads down to the World Trade Center in the first place in large part to find Jules.
*** Gedeon's thoughts to himself as the North Tower collapses and he hides beneath a car to try to avoid the dust and debris; he promises himself that, if he survives, he'll "be a better brother".

* ItWasHisSled: The film, titled after one of the most infamous days in American history (notwithstanding its prominence in the culture from that time period) will tip-off viewers upfront to the tragedy and destruction that unfolded. Even with the HalfwayPlotSwitch (the film initially follows a rookie firefighter who hasn't fought a major fire yet), the presence of celebrity guest hosts, the fact that the intro in its first two airings takes place near (or at) Ground Zero and the heavy {{Foreshadowing}} makes it abundantly clear what's going to happen, even for viewers who were too young to have seen the incident on television.
