* FetishRetardant: Similar to Music/LadyGaga, part of Minaj's divisiveness comes from her highly over-the-top and sometimes tongue-in-cheek sex appeal, which is not helped by the fact that certain detractors feel that she is of more looks and abilities. "Anaconda," in particular, was very much criticized for being ''too'' sexual to even take seriously as a song.

** Her fans do not get along with fans of her fellow rivals Music/MariahCarey, Music/LilKim and most recently, Music/CardiB.

* [[SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct She Can Really Act]]: Her cameo on ''{{The Other Woman|2014}}'' and her voice-over on ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' show she works really well in acting and puts her training from her early career days to work. This also comes through in some of her songs when she raps in a different accent or persona.

** Many hip-hop fans have also called this following Remy Ma's diss track "Shether" in 2017. Compared to the vicious, 7-minute long [[ReasonYouSuckSpeech character assassination]] Remy delivered, Nicki's response with "No Frauds" was criticised by many for being too short and lyrically weaker, as too late to arrive. Many felt it damaged her claim to the title "Queen of Rap", and the fact that the single didn't do very well on the charts made things worse.

** The Nazi imagery in the "Only" lyric video. Several people criticized it, feeling it was a tasteless both in its appropriation of nazi imagery and it's release on the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht (a remembrance of a particularly brutal Nazi push against Jews). Minaj apologized for the questionable imagery, but the video's producer, Jeff Osborne, defended it. He stated that nazi imagery is a perfectly valid [[PuttingOnTheReich trope]] that's everywhere in popular culture, and to single them out specifically was hypocritical. A third group wondered what exactly a song about Nicki Minaj's sex life has to do with the Third Reich.

** ZigZagged. Nicki's extreme usage of Nazi imagery and decision to compare herself [[CompleteMonster to Hitler]] in her *Only* lyric video has also proven unsurprising hard to live down amongst those aware of it (though media was happy to kind of let the whole thing blow over without a word, meaning that a lot of people who likely would have taken this stance don't actually know about it)

* NeverLiveItDown: People are already calling this in regards to Nicki tweeting that she "believes in what the bible says"(I.E. being against gay people) in regards to why she did not tweet her support for the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Many fans (at even some non-fans) consider her verse on Music/KanyeWest's "Monster" to be one of her best, considering she changes accents and flows effortlessly a dozen times during it. Even BonIver said it was.

** With the album ''Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded''. The album itself seemed destined to be a BaseBreaker; almost exactly one half of the album is HipHop with some R&B thrown in, and the rest is straight dance-pop in the vein of "Starships". ** She seems to returning to her hip-hop roosts while holding on to some pop fans with hits like "Lookin Ass" and "YASSS Bish". "Pills N Potions" was an attempt at this as well, due to the fact she raps the verses, but sings a sweet chorus and it was meant with critical acclaim.

** The Callout to Miley at the [=VMAs=]. Debate rages on whether she was right. Especially seeing as she immediately dismissed Miley pointing out how the press likes to misquote. The fact that the entire incident stems from her doing a vaguely worded callout possibly aimed at Taylor Swift (which she then claimed wasn't) doesn't help.
