* QuirkyWork: Compared to the original manga and other entries in the ''Negima'' franchise, this anime is a good deal sillier and more prone to DerangedAnimation, particularly with its characterization of Asuna as a ditzy {{Cloudcuckoolander}} who's obsessed with chupacabras.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Asuna in the Spring Special OVA. She disrupts Negi's studies, insisting that he goes to bed and following a heated argument, Negi snaps at her telling her that it's none of her business (a rare instance of Negi actually issuing an instruction as a teacher). Asuna spends the next four-day sulking about it and giving Negi the cold shoulder, despite the fact that he apologized to her several times- all because he told her to stop being such a ControlFreak. Rather than an endearing {{Tsundere}}, she comes across as [[{{Wangst}} whiny]] and [[SpoiledBrat immature]] throughout the entire episode.
