This is dog kicking, not MEH crossing at all.

* MoralEventHorizon: If Starlight Glimmer didn't pass it in the last episode by outright ''stealing'' the Mane Six's cutie marks from them without even caring about how they felt, she definitely did with TheReveal that she's willing to resort to psychological torture to get her way. And if she doesn't cross it then, she would when she tried to blast her own villagers with a beam.

* CompleteMonster: Starlight Shimmer is this due to her hypocrisy and other crimes. She brainwashed ponies with propaganda, says everyone should be the same(except she should be "more equal"), forcibly removes talents from ponies, and locks them up when they dont agree. Shes a Stalinist cult-leader. She even has a "reeducation" house. If the show allowed it Im sure she would have executions. Shes possibly the most dangerous character as she isnt a physical threat, but a demagogue who could start a revolution.

** When Applejack gets her cutie mark back, the first thing she says is "Finally I can buck like a five-bit snake herder at an Appleloosa ranch house again!" It isn't immediately obvious to most viewers what bucking has to do with [[FreudWasRight snake herding]], or why a snake herder's services might be needed at a ranch house...but see also GeniusBonus below.

How many people, outside of ski enthusiasts, would understand what Double Diamond's name refers to?to?
** More like a "redneck bonus". Most viewers who haven't lived in a rural area probably aren't aware that many species of snakes, especially rat snakes, love to make their homes in farmhouses, or that snakes respond to vibrations. With this knowledge, it becomes perfectly understandable that a snake herder might be hired to buck the walls of a ranch house to drive snakes out.

* BrokenBase: While reception to the episode has been mostly positive, some viewers have taken offense to it, claiming that it [[RetCon completely rewrote]] the established rules and lore about cutie marks (with the fact that one of the episode's writers was [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E13MagicalMysteryCure M. A. Larson]] not helping this matter at all). Others have claimed that Starlight Glimmer's drive for equality being portrayed as villainous counts as UnfortunateImplications. Although one might consider [[YouKeepUsingThatWord she might be using "equality" differently from most people]].
