* NightmareFuel: The aforementioned Mankind gimmick, before he became LighterAndSofter. Plus, Cactus Jack could veer into this at times.
** Mankind's titantron. And music. Geez...
*** He originally had two separate songs; his entrance theme, a grand, dark theme featuring violins and the occasional heavy drum, and his victory music, an incredibly eerie piano piece.
** Many of his speeches as Mankind focused on his character's anger at being so alone in the world, and directing that anger not only on whoever he is about to face, but sometimes on the audience themselves, with both of the examples below [[https://youtu.be/f9E5AynPz8w getting featured on his Titantron]] with a haunting rendition of [[PlayingTheHeartStrings "Adagio for Strings"]] laid over it for good measure.

*** This speech as well, in which he brings up the very real injuries that he has suffered through his career and turns them into a RageAgainstTheHeavens and a ReasonYouSuckSpeech for ''humanity.''

** Some of the actual damage he has suffered falls into this (like losing his ear to Vader as a result of almost getting strangled by the ring ropes or the 1999 "I Quit" match that was so over the top his wife and children were mortified by what WWF was allowing to happen; the prelude and aftermath of the match was made a part of the documentary ''Beyond the Mat'' and showed the real toll all those unprotected chairshots had).
*** The way he describes the ear incident in his first book is the stuff of nightmares. The ropes that night weren't the typical wrestling ropes but were metal elevator cables that easily could have choked him to death.

** He was ''definitely'' a Woobie when he worked in Memphis. Most of management didn't like him and looked down upon him, and he garnered the unwarranted ire of a bitter referee who thought he was an idiot for wanting to be in the wrestling business. Case in point, Mick was legitimately injured during one match, where he had a torn abdominal muscle (the same injury that forced Bill Goldberg out of football), and this same referee ''ignored him'' when he tried to tell him he was seriously injured. After getting to the back, Mick apparently looked so pitiful that manager Randy Hales said something along the lines of "Cactus Jack has got to be the biggest pussy I've ever seen". That's right--somebody called ''Cactus Jack'' a pussy. Luckily for Mick, Wrestling/JeffJarrett--ironically one of the people who'd given him a pounding in the ring--immediately came to his defense and told Randy Hales off in a spectacular manner.

* TheWoobie: Come on, watch any match where he gets beaten senseless and tell me that you don't want to just give him a big hug. Well, maybe not when he's [[{{Squick}} covered in blood]], but at least send him a nice "get well" note.

* WriteWhatYouKnow: He's written three books about, naturally, Pro Wrestling, including his bestselling memoir.

* PlayAlongMeme: Because of having a total of three, maybe four if you count his real life self, alter ego, having a promo with with Dude Love, Mankind, and Cactus Jack interacting with each other, and even at one point, being a part of the Royal Rumble with all three of his personas as entries, there are many fans who joke that Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Mankind, and Mick Foley are four completely different people and want to see a Fatal Four Way between the wrestlers.
* ToughActToFollow: Foley thought Undertaker's Wrestling/HellInACell with Shawn Michaels was this, but it turned out that his own [=HiaC=] debut against Taker would set the standard for the match, and be the measuring stick by which not only his own matches, but every Hell in a Cell match that followed would be stacked up against. It's generally agreed that no subsiquent [=HiaC=] has met that standard, except possibly HHH vs Taker at Mania, but given the toll the match had on Foley's body, it's also generally agreed that's a good thing.
** During Foley’s episode on Stone Cold’s interview show, Austin notes that not only he have to follow Foley’s match (which was impossible to top) but that Foley even had a role in the finish.

* MemeticBadass: Many fans believe Mick Foley to be ''indestructible.'' To wit: He is one of the only people to ''break'' Hell in a Cell with his own body, and in a way that should very likely have [[FatalMethodActing killed him.]] The fans have signs that read [[MemeticMutation "Foley is God"]] for a reason. It's not uncommon for people to argue that Foley's real opponent that night was the Cell itself, and ''the Cell lost.''

** Basically ''any'' moment from his legendary Hell in a Cell match with the undertaker, ''especially'' JR's commentary ([[LargeHam "AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, HE IS]] ''[[LargeHam BROKEN IN HALF!]]"'')
