Unless we're referring to the original meme from 30 Rock, it doesn't count.

Moving trope over to IW since, as per usual, the character isn't a Straw Character.

* FanonDiscontinuity: Just like the PilotMovie, fans have written this show off as non-canon for all the same reasons, on top of ''even more'' retcons from the original film, such as Megamind studying under ''another'' supervillain to become evil (whereas in the original film, he was a genius at a young age who turned evil because he was raised by the inmates and wanted to feel special).

Added DiffLines:

* UncertainAudience: Much like its PilotMovie, ''Megamind Rules'' is a more overtly-kid focused spin-off of a family movie made to bank off the audience of the original. However, it came out over a decade after its original movie, meaning said movie's original audience would no longer be children and actual children would be unfamiliar with the movie. The result is a series made to appeal to an audience too old for it, while those in the targeted age range don't know about the character and setting.

Not YMMV, moving to main page

* ContinuitySnarl: Zig-zagged to a chaotic extent. This show continues on the {{Retcon}} of the [[WesternAnimation/MegamindVsTheDoomSyndicate sequel film]] by continuing to use the Doom Syndicate and Machiavillain, who were seen as viewers to be major retcons to Megamind's backstory. Despite this, the show makes references to the original film that can leave one wondering what the main continuity is. After all, the show doesn't completely invalidate the first film, even making a reference to Megamind's blue binky in the first film, which [[ChekhovsGun turns out to be a source of power this entire time]].
