* MagnificentBastard: "Highway Robbery": [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Jerry Napek]] is a [[EvilCripple paraplegic man]] who seeks revenge on Pete Hoyt for paralyzing him. To accomplish his plans, Napek convinces the judge at Hoyt's parole hearing to release him from prison. Manipulating Hoyt into trusting him, Napek kills him on a highway before pinning his murder on a string of recent highway robberies, while using his [[WoundedGazelleGambit crippled state]] to avoid suspicion from the authorities. Napek then tricks Walt Longmire into driving him back to the scene of the crime for Napek to get rid of any evidence linking him, by telling Walt that he wants to plant a burial cross where Hoyt was killed. When Walt returns to the crime scene and figures out Napek killed Hoyt, Napek [[GracefulLoser lets Walt arrest him]], still content that he killed the man who crippled him.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Jacob Nighthorse offers ground for a great deal of it, including in-universe, especially in later seasons. Is he a basically good person genuinely trying to help his people using unscrupulous and shady methods? A greedy businessman who preys on the Cheyenne Reservation and offers more harm than help to its inhabitants? How sincere are radical politics, and how much are they a hypocritical shield for his ambitions? Is he right to try to invest the money from his projects into infrastructure to help the Rez long-term instead of dolling it out directly to its residents, or is he demonstrating exactly the kind of arrogant CondescendingCompassion that the U. S. Government once did in dealing with the Cheyenne (and to some extent still does)? Even his allies have different opinions on these subjects - and that Walt loathes him and thinks the worst of him in almost every situation doesn't help.

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: The Cheyenne Malachi and the Crow Medicine Woman are played by Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal, who are both First Nation Canadians rather than Native Americans. There's a hint of NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent mixed in, because they're doing little to hide their rather thick Native Canadian accents, probably on the assumption that most viewers except Canadians and Natives from both countries can't really tell the difference.
