* VillainSue: In most other horror films, the audience can get a clear idea of what the monster can do and what it can't do. Not so with Calvin, the alien life-form who is immune to fire despite being a carbon-based life-form, displays complex thinking and tool-use and [[spoiler: piloting]] skills despite having never encountered it before, can easily survive in the vacuum of space for long periods of time and even be active, on top of being super-strong despite being small in size and have evolved in a low gravity environment. His other capabilities are never defined, and so may be unlimited, including his durability and reproductive abilities; unknown quandaries that lead the other characters the IdiotBall in their attempts to kill it or prevent it from reaching Earth. Calvin growing a face with a SlasherSmile and displaying what appears to be sadism doesn't help matters.

** Sure, when it was a harmless little thing, the name "Calvin" was acceptable. But hearing the astronauts call it that when the chaos starts is a tad chuckle-inducing.

** It may be {{narm}} to some, but Calvin is pretty creepy-looking.

* {{Narm}}: Calvin growing a face for no reason other than as an attempt to make it look more scary, as it was already established that it doesn't need a face since it can see and eat with its whole body, comes across as laughably trying too hard. The fact that the face seems to sport a SlasherSmile doesn't help.
