** The anime censored the coil of feces on Benkiman by turning it into a faucet. Later, in 2013, a oneshot focusing on [[ADayInLimelight Benkiman and his past]] would be released, which introduced Benkiman's grandfather, who had a faucet on his head, much like the anime version of Benkiman.

** Creator/AkiraKamiya using both a silly, high pitched, voice, and a serious, badass voice for Kinnikuman is this due to Creator/MarcThompson doing the exact same thing as Kinnikuman's son Mantaro in Anime/UltimateMuscle.

* CrazyAwesome: Certain Choujin stand out as being this, due to the series heavily relying on RuleOfCool, such as Sneagator, an alligator-man wearing sneakers who can shapeshift into various reptiles, and transforms into a '''T-Rex''' claw for his strongest move.

** Takes another one in the Seven Devil Choujin arc, where it fully evolves into a {{Shonen}} wrestling series, not to mention the introduction of the Devil Choujin, who would go on to become one of the primary antagonistic factions, as well as the formation of the [[SuperTeam Idol Choujin]], whose line up of Kinnikuman, Terryman, Robin Mask, among other heroes such as Brocken Jr. and Warsman.

** Takes another one in the Seven Devil Choujin arc, where it fully evolves into a {{Shonen}} wrestling series

** To a far lesser extent than any of these, Leopoldon from Team Big Body, who is far more popular than the rest of the team including Big Body himself despite being one of the victims of TheWorfEffect when sent up against Mammothman.

** Kinnikuman. He may be a JerkAss (more of a JerkWithAHeartOfGold), a letch and a coward, but it's hard to be nice to people when you're a laughingstock among superheroes and get no respect from anyone, even when you ''do'' actually help to save the day.

* EarWorm: A lot of the image songs are pretty catchy, the best examples being Brocken Jr. and Kendaman's.
** Some of the theme songs, too. ''Burning Kinnikuman'', in particular.

* NeverLiveItDown: Kinnikuman Big Body. A common joke among the fans about the Throne Arc is that Kinnikuman Big Body's sacred throne move is stepping into the ring, [[EpicFail since that's all he did against Kinnikuman Super Phoenix before being hit at full force with the Muscle Revenger]].

** Terryman is this both in-universe and in real life. In the first popularity contest the manga had, he actually came first.

* TheScrappy: Canadianman [[TookALevelInJerkass suddenly becoming a jerk]] in the [[Anime/UltimateMuscle latest story arc]] resulted in fans berating him for his pathetic win/loss record at full force.

* EpilepticTrees: Fans speculate that Brocken is a personification of post World War II Germany, continuing to wear his father's uniform thus not abandoning his heritage yet refusing to be a heel like his father (who was a Grade A Nazi). They also say that Brocken Jr was a character that might have been created to give an image of a reinvindicated Germany.

* AmericansHateTingle: Ironically, [[{{Eagleland}} Terryman]] is one of these to the ''American'' fanbase (or possibly a BaseBreakingCharacter rather than an outright Scrappy) while in Japan, he's a regular EnsembleDarkhorse. While he's the only {{Expy}} in the series to use the same moves as who he's based off of (Terry Funk), a lot of Western fans criticize him for being weak and boring because of this same fact because he's in a series where other people pull off some insanely awesome wrestling moves. Terryman's rather lackluster Win/Loss record does not really help his case with the Western fans either.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: [[AmericansHateTingle In the West]], Terryman gets a lot of flak for primarily using submission moves, [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff but in Japan]], he gets praise from the exact same thing. IsntItIronic?
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Now has [[AwesomeMusic/{{Kinnikuman}} its own page]].

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Ramenman. Initially introduced in order to give Kinnikuman a brutal heel wrestler to get him psyched up for his match against Robin Mask, he was so popular that he was elevated to secondary character status. After that, his popularity skyrocketed to the point where he even got his own SpinOff, ''Tatakae! Ramenman''.
** The same goes for Buffaloman; At the beginning of the seven devils arc (where he was introduced), they were initially setting up Black Hole to be the arc big bad, but Buffaloman proved to be so popular that he got upgraded to the BigBad while Black Hole was reduced to a mere lackey.

*** Likewise, Wolfman/Rikishiman is a lot more popular than you would think for someone who pretty much exists for the use of TheWorfEffect.
** Terryman is this in Japan. In one popularity contest he actually came first.
** Robin Mask is much loved by fans, particularly Americans and of course, his native country of England.
** Brocken Jr's has a pretty good fan-base.
** Neptuneman was an intimidating villain who not only gets his own movie, but also gets a HeelFaceTurn
** The Ninja, he not only does a HeelFaceTurn, but he also shows one of the best fights in ''Anime/UltimateMuscle''
** Akuma Shogun, the fact that he got his own movie says a lot.
** Warsman has quite the following as well.

** This series featured a wrestler with an AncientEgypt theme (including a FinishingMove that [[{{Mummy}} mummified]] opponents), but was also a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent vampire]]. Later, ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'' would feature a character named Irwin, who-get this-turns out to be a ''legit'' [[HybridMonster mummy]]-[[{{Dhampyr}} vampire]].

** Kinnikuman Super Phoenix grew up poor and alone, hoping that he could prove himself to be the heir and be taken away from his misery. His jealousy only increased when Kinnikuman was revealed as the prince of planet Kinniku, as Super Phoenix saw Suguru as an idiot who got money and recognition without working for them, while Super Phoenix was intelligent and had to struggle to survive.[[spoiler: He gets better after Kinnikuman defeats him, leading to a CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming when Suguru considers him as a friend and family member and comes to his aid against the five evil Choujin by preventing them from killing him.]]

* MemeticMutation: A common joke among the fans about the Throne Arc is that Kinnikuman Big Body's sacred throne move is stepping into the ring, [[EpicFail since that's all he did against Kinnikuman Super Phoenix before being hit at full force with the Muscle Revenger]].
* MoralEventHorizon: Planetman crosses it with perverse glee in his match against Kinnikuman. He first skirts the line when he imprints the entire Earth on Kinnikuman and starts stabbing all the countries on Kinnikuman's body which not only hurts Kinnikuman, but the ''Choujin'' that came from the continent stabbed, breaking their life-preserving bubbles. Then he uses his secret technique, Planet Face to imprint the faces of Kinnikuman's friends and loved ones (including ''Bibinba '''and''' his own mother '') on his planets so Kinnikuman can't attack him without hurting them, crossing the line and managing to anger Kinnikuman.

* WhatAnIdiot: Mayumi, the current king of Planet Kinniku, is usually known for making situations worse whenever he tries to fix them, but there was one point in the Throne Arc where he [[IncrediblyLamePun royally]] fucked up - [[spoiler: when the revelation that one of the possible successors to the throne is actually your eldest son that was banished from the family could cause a total disaster in the world of Choujin, the last thing that you should do is hold the one book that could prove it true in a place where it could be stolen]].

He can counter all of Kinnikuman's moves, he has variations of the other main characters' techniques, he's Buffaloman's blood brother, and he's only defeated by a DeusExMachina (this was because the season was behind schedule so they decided to rush the ending).
