Though nowadays, it has gained a growing following with some who initially didn't like it admitting that it isn't as bad as they remembered it to be.
** Downplayed with ''Jan Tenner: Der neue Superheld''. It is also not too well received by those who were fans since the ''Classic'' era. Complaints include that it tries to be too much like the ''Classic'' series and that the plots are either too complicated or too senseless. Also, a number of people have mentioned that they simply cannot warm up to the new characters. Though considering that it has lasted longer than ''Die neue Dimension'', it is still selling well implying the ones disliking it are in the minority.
* DamselScrappy: Many fans, especially the younger ones, disliked Laura in ''Classic'' for having a big mouth, always claiming Jan would need her help on a mission and that she can look after herself only to end up a DamselInDistress. Ironically, the ContestedSequel ''Die neue Dimension'' fixes this complaint by giving her considerable skills in hand-to-hand combat resulting in her rarely being in need of saving anymore.
* FairForItsDay: Zig-zagged. While the [[HollywoodNatives portrayal of the native americans]] in episode 6 of ''Classic'' was not uncommon in the 80s when the episode was made, fans weren't happy about it even back then.
* FirstInstallmentWins: While ''Classic'' is what most fans think of when they hear "Jan Tenner", ''Die Neue Dimension'' and to a lesser extend ''Der Neue Superheld'' are considered [[ContestedSequel Contested Sequels]].
* FranchiseOriginalSin: Zig-zagged. One of the problems people had with ''Die Neue Dimension'' was that everyone except Laura called Jan simply ''Tenner''. While it is true that Futura never called Jan by his surname in ''Classic'', Mimo did in his first appearance while Forbett did it a lot at the beginning of the series and still did it from time to time throughout the rest of ''Classic''.
* TheScrappy: Initially, Tanja was greatly disliked by the fanbase for getting easily hysterical and because she constantly made goo-goo eyes at Jan. When she was PutOnABus, fans were not too saddened by it. However...
