* VanillaProtagonist: One of the major complaints about Touya is that he has absolutely no unique characteristics to speak of. He is exactly like every other NiceGuy, everyman protagonist you've ever seen. Even worse, because the story has only the bare minimum of a MythArc, Touya has no goals or ambitions to speak of, especially early on. He is uninterested in wealth or fame, pretty much ignores the opposite sex, tries to [[RefusalOfTheCall refuse locating the rest of Babylon]], and doesn't seem particularly interested in good deeds that aren't right in front of him. He finally gains some goals after dozens of chapters, but even then it's just because he's ResignedToTheCall.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The first episode is full of this, including Touya's innocent communication with sweet and good-natured girls and the absence of any conflicts. Also, unlike some other harem shows, the girls actually get along quite well with each other, and none of them try anything sleazy to get an advantage with Touya, his ObliviousToLove attitude notwithstanding.

Adding Deus ex Machina due to the relevations in Volume 5.

* DeusExMachina: In Volume 5, Touya is told by God that he is made out of the same material as the divine. Everything Touya does to solve the world's problems is this.

* LoveItOrHateIt: The most common ratings for the series on Crunchyroll are either 5 stars or 1 star. Reviewers either hate the series' lack of a central conflict, the main character's generic "clueless NiceGuy" personality and the cheap animation, or they love the LighterAndSofter approach, Touya's clever combination of powers, and the unique, somewhat mature approach to harem genre tropes. There are very few opinions that fall somewhere in the middle.

* GrowingTheBeard: Early on, the series pulled a solid 4.5 stars per episode (and 3.5 stars overall), demonstrating that while viewers were overall liking the show, there were still major issues and reservations. Then [[WhamEpisode Episode 11]] hit, and scored an average of five stars with over 700 reviewers on Crunchyroll. Introducing Babylon, upping the {{Fanservice}} with Francesca, and making definitive progress in the romance subplot sparked interest, and viewers were finally becoming invested in the show.

* TheScrappy: Touya was quite unloved among the readers of the original novel because of his extreme ObliviousToLove, drawing comparisons to Ichika Orimura, the protagonist of ''LightNovel/InfiniteStratos''.

* MartyStu: Touya is a textbook example of one. Though a lot of it has to do with God giving him a SuperpowerLottery ticket as an apology for accidentally killing him, he is able to utilize every single magic affinity, when he's told that most people have three at most. Additionally, in many of the situations he finds himself in, he is often able to resolve them with almost no issue, such as when he's made aware of a group of bandits who had planned to ambush the convoy he was with, or healing the king who was poisoned so badly not even his royal healer could do anything for him. And in some situations where a solution doesn't necessarily present itself easily, he can simply access the internet and obtain information that no one else could due to his smartphone.

* SoBadItsGood: Complete lack of conflict, Marty Sue the main character and the maximum possible number of cliches for the genre? Some people find it so cheap that it makes the adaptation magical. Even the cheap animation and simple art style has been likened to that of a late 90s anime making it charmingly retro compared to the slick vector and CGI animation many other shows use.

* MartyStu: Touya gathers quite the harem (one of which being a princess), is a MasterOfAll when it comes to magic, has the type of SuperReflexes that doesn't require him to have any weapons training at all, and his smartphone (which is can recharge with lightning magic, without risk of shorting it) is a great source of information (he uses it to teach someone how to make ice cream, not to mention it's GPS works as a map of the new world), and can be used as a magical device (he can use it to X-Ray through clothes). That said, the ones after the first are justified because of the fact that God (whom Touya has on speed dial) willed it to atone for his accident.
