* RonTheDeathEater - Applied to Neo-Queen Serenity and the future senshi, depending on whether or not one takes Emerald's words at face value. If he is to be believed, Serenity committed planet-wide brainwashing and the senshi were ruthless soldiers. If one takes him as an UnreliableNarrator though, this trope is averted. In the latter case, there's also [[spoiler:Pluto, who in canon takes her duties as guardian of time incredibly seriously and in the fic allows a known criminal to travel through time and change the past, allowing an entire world be consumed by nothingness just because Crystal Tokyo didn't turn out as she wanted it to.]]
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Emerald, depending on how [[UnreliableNarrator reliable]] one considers him. If his claims are taken as true (that he's fighting to save Earth from brainwashing), then his goal is noble enough but his constant mockery of the people of Crystal Tokyo (calling them zombie, cattle, and sheep, even the children) can make him come across as unlikable. He also is condescending to the present-day senshi despite claiming to hold some respect for them and some of his more violent thoughts can come across as a bit alarming. His jabs and behavior towards Mamoru also come across as mean-spirited, particularly when he admits to mainly bothering to save him from the Dark Kingdom to win the senshi's trust and, despite partially wanting to impress Mars, admitting he didn't do it for her to be nice. The story also makes a big deal out of the youma being much less AlwaysChaoticEvil than in canon... and Emerald just gleefully ''murders'' them for power.

Editing Ron The Death Eater, Unintentionally Unsympathetic, and Draco In Leather Pants to adhere to Examples Are Not Arguable. Re-applying spoiler tags to Ron The Death Eater example, because that\'s a major plot twist that\'s given a spoiler tag everywhere else for the fic. Reverting editing to the end of the Ron The Death Eater example because that was what we agreed was the most fair way of putting things.

Edited Unintentionally Unsympathetic in accordance to the agreement on the discussion board.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic - Even putting aside his Anti-Hero/Anti-Villain tendencies, Emerald can come across as this. Despite his plan to save the people of Neo-Tokyo from brainwashing (which is noble enough), he regularly refers to them as sheep, cattle, and zombies (even ''children''), even though he knows perfectly well that they are hardly apathetic by their own choice. Despite claiming to have some respect for the younger senshi, he is fairly condescending towards them and their first exploits, partly due to originally knowing them many years in the future where they were much more competent. While, he goes to rescue a kidnapped Mamoru, partially to win the trust of the senshi and partially to impress Mars, he admits that he isn't doing it for Mars to be nice.

Ron The Death Eater edited as per the discussion board exchange.

* RonTheDeathEater - Despite popularising the Crystal Tokyo Dystopia concept, this is actually averted for the most part. Sailor Moon is explicitly referred to as being benevolent despite Emerald seeing her as a tyrant and many of the Sailor Senshi are generally only seen being ruthless towards their enemies, doubly so since almost all of it is done through Emerald's perspective. However a scene in the future where Jupiter and Mars discuss how brutally Venus attacked Emerald and mention how two children that apparently helped him ("It's a real pity about those two that were helping him. They were just kids!" "So were we, once. They chose their path.") definitely shows that they've hardened up at the very least.

* RonTheDeathEater - Neo Queen Serenity and the future senshi get this, being portrayed as ruthless soldiers who masquerade as benevolent rulers and apparently feel entitled to running the world. This is pretty much the exact opposite of their canon selves. It's entirely possible that this is a case of UnreliableNarrator since most of their actions are told by Emerald instead of shown, but a scene in the future where Jupiter and Mars discuss how brutally Venus attacked Emerald and callously dismiss attacking and/or ''killing'' two children who helped him ("It's a real pity about those two that were helping him. They were just kids!" "So were we, once. They chose their path.") definitely shows them as far worse than they ever were in canon.

He only goes to rescue a kidnapped Mamoru partially to win the trust of the senshi and partially to impress Mars, fights to kill even though he knows Mamoru was brainwashed into attacking, sneers at him for "sleeping his way to the top" with Beryl (even though the brainwashing means it's ''rape''), and continuously bashes the poor guy as a hanger-on opportunist who hurt poor Rei's feelings and only married Neo-Queen Serenity for the status (never mind all the times he was put in danger because he joined in to help Sailor Moon fight). He's furious at Luna for not trusting him with confidential information and with Queen Serenity for saving Usagi from his abducting her, expressing a desire to kill both of them.

* DracoInLeatherPants - The ancestors of the Black Moon Clan. In canon, they were explicitly stated to be terrorists who attacked Crystal Tokyo and killed innocents before being defeated by Sailor Moon. In the fanfiction, they are freedom fighters who engage in a noble, if doomed to failure, revolt against the senshi, who they view as tyrants. [[spoiler:Considering his canon self, Emerald could also count. In the series, he used his power to brainwash the people of Crystal Tokyo into a rebellion and, upon being brainwashed, merged with the planet Nemesis and tried to steal the Silver Crystal so he could have complete control over the entire universe.]] In the fanfiction, he's a BrokenAce who wants to free the people of Crystal Tokyo from oppression.
* {{Fanon}} - The story makes much use of it, most notably that Neo-Queen Serenity banished anyone who didn't accept her rule, that Purification is some form of mind control instead of more of an exorcism (and that Crystal Tokyo is a utopia devoid entirely of sorrow or negativity for that matter), that the Black Moon clan and their ancestors were freedon fighters, and that the senshi deliberately manipulated events to bring about a second Moon Kingdom.

Added DiffLines:

* UnfortunateImplications - When Emerald is rescuing Endymion from Beryl, he notices that Endymion's bed is rather large for one person and makes jabs at Endymion for "sleeping [his] way to the top". Thing is, at that time, Endymion was brainwashed by Beryl. If the two were really sleeping together, as Emerald mocks, then it would mean Endymion was being ''[[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale raped]]''.
** When Emerald is draining youma to regain his energy, he is only shown hunting female ones. That might not be so bad, were it not for the fact that he corners them in ways that can be seen as [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything reminiscent]] of assailants (he catches his first by breaking into her apartment as she comes home from work and gets another by luring her to an alley and tossing her down it, before going after and coming out saying how "easy" it was.)
