While, he goes to rescue a kidnapped Mamoru, partially to win the trust of the senshi and partially to impress Mars, he admits that he isn't doing it for Mars to be nice.

However a scene in the future where Jupiter and Mars discuss how brutally Venus attacked Emerald and mention how two children that apparently helped him ("It's a real pity about those two that were helping him. They were just kids!" "So were we, once. They chose their path.") definitely shows that they've hardened up at the very least.

[[spoiler:Meanwhile, Pluto in the series takes her job as guardian of time so seriously that she tries to kill Sailor Moon for traveling through the timestream and ends up sacrificing herself to prevent Prince Demand from destroying Crystal Tokyo by creating a time paradox. In her appearances in the fic, she turns a blind eye and lets a wanted criminal travel back in time and then arranges events so that he prevents the creation of Crystal Tokyo, showing virtually no reaction to the fact that she left her friends and queen to vanish into nothingness.]]

* UnfortunateImplications - When Emerald is rescuing Endymion from Beryl, he notices that Endymion's bed is rather large for one person and makes jabs at Endymion for "sleeping [his] way to the top". Thing is, at that time, Endymion was brainwashed by Beryl. If the two were really sleeping together, as Emerald mocks, then it would mean Endymion was being ''[[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale raped]]''.
** When Emerald is draining youma to regain his energy, he is only shown hunting female ones. That might not be so bad, were it not for the fact that he corners them in ways that can be seen as [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything reminiscent]] of assailants (he catches his first by breaking into her apartment as she comes home from work and gets another by luring her to an alley and tossing her down it, before going after and coming out saying how "easy" it was.)
