Must be unintentionally disliked, these are intentional so not examples.

* TheScrappy: Iggy for mistreating and humiliating Arnold despite the fact that the latter did his best to earn his forgiveness.
Sid and Stinky have become hated after revealing Iggy's secret and not getting any comeuppance whatsoever despite being the cause of Iggy and Arnold's humilations.

* CathartisFactor: After spending the entire episode putting Arnold through the wringer it's so satisfying to see Iggy get his comeuppance via the former rejecting his apology and ending his friendship with him.

* NeverLiveItDown: Iggy forcing Arnold to wear bunny pajamas in public. Even though he realized his mistake after hearing Sid and Stinky admit to pulling the secret out of Arnold's mouth, Arnold never forgave him, nor did the fans. Even Craig Bartlett himself was ashamed of the episode, and Iggy never made another major appearance again. Sid and Stinky can qualify too, since they were the ones who randomly guessed Arnold's secret about Iggy, and also that they broke the promise they made with Arnold not to give away Iggy's secret. Unlike Iggy, this didn't get the two of them removed from the series nor does Arnold renounce them as his friends.

friends. It doesn't help that, unlike those two, this is the ''only'' instance Iggy got ADayInTheLimelight, leaving his personality totally defined by this episode.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While Helga shouldn't have framed Inga for theft, it's hard to feel sorry for Inga after she spent the entire episode forcing Helga into a dress she clearly wasn't happy wearing and otherwise trying to control her life, regardless of how good her intentions were.

* ValuesResonance: Inga's initial handling of Helga's behavior involves her not getting mad when Helga "accidentally" spills glue on Bob's favorite chair. Helga fully expected Inga to get angry and was surprised that she didn't. Inga simply expresses relief Helga wasn't hurt when she heard the girl cry out, and explains simple accidents aren't something you lash out at a child over. Though Helga ''did'' do it on purpose, Inga didn't know at the time. In years after "Helga and the Nanny" aired, discussions started being held about the proper way to react when kids break or spill something, with Inga's attitude being surprisingly progressive for the time.

* AccidentalAesop: Whenever you're trying to make a promise to someone to keep a secret, ''do '''not''' even give out a slightest hint to someone else about it'', especially when they cannot be trusted, persistent, and/or just simply [[LooseLips won't keep their mouth shut]], like the way Arnold answered to Sid and Stinky why he was giggling, namely ''"It's just something Iggy was wearing. That's all."'', which made Sid and Sticky take wild guesses about it. Even though it's not a bad thing to be generally honest, sometimes it's just better to white lie to others about a private matter (whether it's yours or another person's), otherwise you can and will potentially, though unwittingly, ruin their life.

If it's disliked, it's probably not a valid example.

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: As much as disliked "Arnold Betrays Iggy" is, it does show that some people will never forgive you no matter how apologetic you are.

Per clean up thread, can only apply to whole seasons or shows, not individual episodes.

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: This episode is considered the worst due to Arnold being treated badly just to be forgiven, Iggy being ungrateful and unforgivable, Stinky and Sid for causing Arnold's misery and not getting punished, and everyone kicking the dog on Arnold. Even Arnold himself can be difficult to be sympathized with, because of his HonorBeforeReason attitude. Rather than coming to terms that Iggy will never forgive him, Arnold suffered through humiliation just to earn Iggy's (undeserved) forgiveness.

Refers to characters that are consistently unpopular

* TheScrappy: Sid and Stinky, due to them telling everyone about Iggy wearing bunny pajamas even though Arnold told them not to, and getting no consequences for it.
