* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: The manga was released two years prior to ''Manga/FoodWars'' become the symbol for modern cooking shounen (and manga in general), when viewers found out about this manga, some brushed it off as a rip-off of the Shounen Jump hit, without realizing that it's actually its predecessor and it actually doesn't share many traits with the latter outside of the cooking school setting, diverse cast and penchant for cooking duels (''Hell's Kitchen'' is considerably wackier even in that aspect)

** Tachibana is...obsessed, to say at least, with Satoru's 'scent'. Granted it's coming Dogma, but still...
** Dogma and Yuri have a certain BirdsOfAFeather behavior to each other. Dogma is particularly vocal in the beginning about wanting to taste his poison.
** Between Utsurogi and Kumoi (though considerably more from the former). Utsurogi gets in Kumoi's space, calls him by a cute nickname, calls himself his best friend, keeps asking him to join him. A scene in chapter 40 has them with their faces particularly close with Utsurogi holding Kumoi's hair, and if Utsurogi wasn't being so threatening, you'd believe that he's going in for a kiss.

* CultClassic: The manga never really became known among mainstream readers, but developed a solid if small following during it's run and even after it thanks to it's brand of comedy and CookingDuel style, especially since it's one that precedes the manga would've become the lead and standard in that genre, ''Manga/FoodWars''.
