%%* CreepyAwesome: Kuyo Suo.* SugarWiki/DevelopmentHell: In the infamous [[GroundhogDayLoop Endless Eight]] episodes of the second season of ''The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'', each episode is animated from scratch, despite the plot and dialogue of each being nearly identical. The voice actors even claim that they did eight recordings.
** The first season was packed with pain-staking effort, including valid C++ code, SQL commands used in a way that no one can understand anyway, [[SceneryPorn photo accurate recreations of the setting]], and tiny details hinting toward coming ([[AnachronicOrder that is to say previous]]) episodes.
** Also, the novels. There's no other reason (well, except AuthorAppeal) to put [[ViewersAreGeniuses explanations and diagrams of college-level math]].
** The start-up of the old Windows 95 computer in alternate-world Nagato's classroom during the ''Disappearance'' movie as well. They could have simply made it a generic affair, but it was done accurately from start to finish, correct opening sound, GUI and all included.

While Haruhi [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold is]] [[DepravedBisexual a]] [[{{Tsundere}} lot]] [[ManipulativeBastard of]] [[RealityWarper things]], the nature of her being inherently makes attacking her a really bad idea. It didn't help that he was only stopped by Mikuru begging him not do do it (keep in mind that she's the one he was doing it for in the first place). It makes things worse in the short term, as it's implied it was one of the causes for [[RealityWarper Haruhi's subsequent unraveling of reality]] in the making of the movie. First person narrator isn't a trope

* LiteraryAgentHypothesis: A popular fan theory is that the events portrayed are nothing more than an [[LifeEmbellished embellished]] retelling of author Nagaru Tanigawa's actual high-school experience, with all the supernatural happenings just added so that the series is distinguishable from all the other SliceOfLife light novels and anime series out there. Of course, there is no evidence in the novels or anime whatsoever that this speculation is correct; it was probably inspired by the facts that Tanigawa refuses to reveal the real name of his FirstPersonNarrator, that the unnamed city in which the events take place is described in just enough detail as to unmistakably be his hometown, and that he was, in fact, in a literature club back in high school.

* CommonKnowledge: Many fans were convinced (and some still are to this day) that the Endless Eight arc [[ArcFatigue lasted for so long]] solely because Kyoto Animation wanted to [[TrollingCreator troll the fanbase]]. The real reason is much less exciting: the adaptation of ''The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya'' was originally going to be included in the second season, but during production it was shifted to a feature-length movie instead. Endless Eight was as long as it was to fill in for time the anime would have spent on ''Disappearance''.

* BetterOnDVD: ''Endless Eight'', assuming you're an American fan who can buy a boxset instead of having to pay the ludicrous prices for multiple [=DVDs=] of the same damn thing. Downing the whole thing straight may take four hours of your life, but it actually does hold up as an experiment. Knowing beforehand that the arc would end in eight episodes is also a morale boost in comparison to the horror of waiting one week for a new episode only to find an old one remade and having no idea how long this nightmare would last.

Downing the whole thing straight may take four hours of your life, but it actually does hold up as an experiment. The "Endless Eight" arc works better, or at least is less frustrating, on DVD. Knowing beforehand that the arc would end in eight episodes is also a morale boost in comparison to the horror of waiting one week for a new episode episode, only to find an old one remade and having no idea how long this nightmare would last.last. You can also skip some episodes since nothing is really missed if you only watch the first, second, and last parts. Alternatively, if you ''do'' want to watch all eight episodes through, it's almost necessary to do so at once to appreciate their arguable charm point of how almost nothing is exactly the same twice.
