** Jon's "Under the Super Scope" series started to got some backlash after focusing on games he thinks have game design issues such as ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot1996'' and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass'' while most episodes until then were positive reviews. It doesn't help that they are games from fan-favorite franchises and that Jon is not cowed about his opinions (going as far as calling ''Phantom Hourglass'' "the worst ''Zelda''" in the title of the video). While the episodes usually have more than 95% of thumbs up, it usually drops to around 80% anytime he speaks ill of a game (although nothing is as low as the 70% on his negative review of ''VideoGame/SuperMario64DS'').
** Their review of the ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork Legacy Collection'' has roughly 40% dislikes due to [=NintenDaan=] calling ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork5TeamColonelAndTeamProtoman Battle Network 5]]'' inferior to ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork 2]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork 3]]'', while also lumping it in with ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork4RedSunAndBlueMoon 4]]''. The problem with this is compared to ''5'', ''4'' is [[{{Sequelitis}} much more unanimously disliked]] while ''5'' is considered [[SurprisinglyImprovedSequel a return to form in terms of quality]]. He even said that his opinion was "not a hot take", which many also disagreed with.

* HarsherInHindsight: All the "Welp, Andre's not here again" jokes became much harsher when it was revealed that this was very much the case behind the scenes, where Andre would disappear for significant lengths of time so that Derrick or Steve would do the work instead. The entire friendship between Andre and the others also falls into this after Derrick revealed how much Andre kept trying to guilt-trip him into staying at GX and all the stress he put Steve under.

The joke was so infamous that it still goes on, even ''after'' Daisy [[ImStandingRightHere actually got added to the game]].

* EightPointEight: Gamexplain has developed a bit of a reputation for this.
** One that comes in mind is their 2.5/5 review of ''VideoGame/TheWonderful101'', as well as their "meh" review of ''VideoGame/PokemonSuperMysteryDungeon'' by [[WebVideo/BrainScratchCommentaries Ted Wiesen]], who admittedly said that he didn't really like the series in the first place. They also didn't give a very good review to ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising'', ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfLegacy'' and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess HD''.
** Ted got hit with this again with his review of ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneySpiritOfJustice'', giving it a Dislike rating despite every other review of the game being positive. The fact that the video itself has a higher ratio of dislikes should tell you how many people agreed with him.

* CriticalResearchFailure: During an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrKDh8pFbQ0 Analysis Video]] on ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosForNintendo3DSAndWiiU'', André erroneously referred Ridley a female when in actuality, Ridley is male. Derrick later recalled this goof and says that he "had to go beat that fact into (André)".

*** In fairness, one can see why it might have appeared fishy to some as it was happening. The leak was a hot topic of debate amongst the Smash fanbase at the time, and the channel was/is well-known for making videos, sometimes multiple videos, about similar popular rumors and leaks, regardless of if they thought they were true or false.
